Abstract

Introduction: Adolescent health will impact future well-being. The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted governmental imposition of restrictions on social activities. Hence, understanding the lifestyle factors, such as sedentary activities and fruit and vegetable consumption, affecting adolescents' nutritional status during the pandemic is crucial. In Samarinda, more than 18% of adolescents have inadequate nutritional status. Aims: to explore the relationship between sedentary activities, fruit and vegetable consumption, and the nutritional status of adolescents. Method: Using an online questionnaire, a cross-sectional study was conducted on 300 high school students during the COVID-19 pandemic, between October and December 2021. Sedentary activity levels were assessed using the Adolescent Sedentary Activity Questionnaire (ASAQ), while fruit and vegetable consumption was evaluated through the FFQ-SQ (Food Frequency Questionnaire-Semi Quantitative). Nutritional status was determined using z score of body mass index (BMI) for age. Data analysis employed the Chi-square test and Fisher exact test. Results: Gender, maternal occupation, and average monthly parental income were found to be associated with nutritional status (p=0.020; p=0.038; p=0.045). However, no significant association was observed between fruit and vegetable consumption and nutritional status (p=0.102; p=0.121). Certain sedentary activities, such as doing assignments without using a laptop/computer (p=0.029) and reading for pleasure (p=0.038), were linked to nutritional status. Fruit and vegetable consumption showed no association with the nutritional status of adolescents. Conclusion: Conversely, certain sedentary activities were found to be associated with nutritional status. Educating adolescents within families and schools regarding the significance of physical activity and balanced nutrition is imperative.

Abstract

Background : The advent of online taxi bike drivers has revolutionized the lives of Indonesians by providing a convenient and effective means of transportation. Despite the issue, it was shown that in 2017, 79% (58,715 incidents) of online taxi bike drivers were engaged in traffic accidents. One of the reasons for the large number of accidents is the health of the drivers. Objective : The purpose of this study is to identify the needs of informal health services for online motorcycle taxi drivers. Research Methods/ Implementation Methods : the Community Meeting (In Indonesia: Musyawarah Masyarakat Desa/MMD). This meeting was attended by 16 people, consisting of 3 researchers, 3 people from the Samarinda City Health Office, 1 representative from Juanda Health Center, 2 people from Samarinda City Health Center, 1 person from Remaja Health Center, 1 person from Wonorejo Health Center, and 5 people from the regional office. Results : Based on the Community Meeting results, it is known that each regional office and community health center needs further coordination related to the initiation of Occupational Health Post. The regional office can prepare a minimum of 4 Occupational Health Post cadres and this study targets 10 partners from each regional office. Despite the wide availability of formal health services, informal health services are an important component needed by the community including online ojek drivers. The results of the community deliberation meeting consisted of four themes, namely: Schedule for the implementation of the Occupational Health Post , Legality of the establishment of Occupational Health Post , Coordination with local villages, Flow of implementation of the Occupational Health Post Conclusion/Lesson Learned : Based on the results of the deliberation, preparation is needed for the establishment of the Occupational Health Post. There are two activities, namely training ojek driver members to be trained as Occupational Health Post health cadres and advocacy in the establishment of Occupational Health Post

Abstract

Background : The construction of the National Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan has had a significant impact on waste management, especially plastic. With the increase in population due to this project, plastic waste in Sukaraja Village has increased, but access to landfills is very limited. As a result, the community prefers to burn waste, that are detrimental to the health of the environment. Good waste management is urgently needed to raise community awareness and create economic opportunities through recycling Objective : This activity aims to increase the knowledge of the community, especially mothers, about the negative impact of plastic waste on health and the environment Research Methods/ Implementation Methods : The Ecoless Socialization activity was conducted at the Sukaraja Village Office, involving 14 women representatives from the local hamlet. It included problem identification through observations and interviews, preparation of socialization materials, and implementation in three sessions: gymnastics together, material presentation, and video presentation of recycled products. Evaluation was conducted with pre-test and post-test Results : The results of the Ecoless activity in Sukaraja Village showed a significant increase in the knowledge of the participating mothers. The average pre-test score rose from 66.4% to 85% post socialization, reflecting a better understanding of the impact of plastic waste and how to reduce its use Conclusion/Lesson Learned : The Ecoless program was successful in increasing the community's understanding of the negative impacts of plastic waste and processing methods, with an average knowledge increase of almost 20%. Follow-up actions are suggested such as with entrepreneurship education, thus increasing awareness and benefits for the community
