Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of "Marriage Is Scary" from the perspective of the Qur'an, reflecting the fears of many individuals, particularly the younger generation, towards the institution of marriage. The background of this research is based on the negative trends emerging on social media, which portray marriage as something frightening. The issues raised include the primary causes of this fear and the solutions offered by the Qur'an to address the phenomenon. The research method employed is a qualitative literature approach with thematic analysis of the Qur'anic verses that emphasize the importance of marriage. The findings indicate that marriage is viewed as a sacred and positive institution, emphasizing values of love, commitment, and responsibility among partners. By understanding the teachings of the Qur'an, individuals are expected to overcome their fears and see marriage as an opportunity to build harmonious and happy relationships

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of mentoring in addressing problematic students at MTs Miftahul Ulum Tanjungarum through the Qur'anic reading and writing approach. This approach is expected to help students facing behavioral, social, and academic issues find solutions through the moral values contained in the Qur'an. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the mentoring program through Qur'anic reading and writing has a positive impact on improving students' behavior, social skills, and academic performance. The mentoring process involves teaching values such as honesty, discipline, and patience, which can be applied in everyday life. This study is expected to contribute to the development of student mentoring strategies in Islamic education-based schools

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi revitalisasi norma sosial dalam kehidupan anak muda zaman sekarang dengan menggunakan pendekatan Tafsir Maudhui. Dalam konteks ini, norma sosial yang dimaksud mencakup nilai-nilai, etika, dan perilaku yang dianggap penting dalam interaksi sosial di kalangan remaja. Oleh karena itu, revitalisasi norma sosial menjadi suatu keniscayaan untuk membekali anak muda dengan kompas moral yang kokoh dalam menavigasi kompleksitas tantangan zaman. penelitian ini mengkaji ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an yang relevan untuk menggali nilai-nilai sosial yang dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Melalui metode ini, peneliti berupaya untuk mengidentifikasi cara-cara revitalisasi norma sosial dapat diterapkan, serta dampaknya terhadap pembentukan karakter dan identitas anak muda guna membentuk generasi muda yang tidak hanya cerdas secara intelektual dan mampu berkontribusi secara positif bagi peradaban yang berlandaskan nilai-nilai universal Islam.

Abstract

Studies on Qur’anic tahfidz have largely focused on memorization techniques and pedagogical achievement, while the formation of religious consciousness through memorization practices remains underexplored. This study examines how the sabaq method functions as a process of forming Qur’anic habitus and embodied religious consciousness among Muslim students at At-Taqwa School, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Employing a qualitative approach within the framework of the Living Qur’an, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of tahfidz activities. The findings demonstrate that repetitive memorization practices constitute forms of lived engagement with the Qur’an operating through cognitive, affective, and practical dimensions. Memorized verses are not only retained verbally but also connected to moral reflection, emotional attachment, spiritual discipline, and everyday religious conduct. Drawing on Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of habitus, this study argues that tahfidz practices function as mechanisms of religious habituation through which Qur’anic values become embodied within students’ dispositions, bodily routines, and socio-religious subjectivity. In the context of the Muslim minority in Thailand, tahfidz also serves as a medium for reproducing Islamic identity and sustaining Qur’anic culture. This study contributes to Living Qur’an scholarship by repositioning tahfidz as an embodied religious practice rather than merely a pedagogical activity of textual memorization. [Kajian mengenai tahfidz Al-Qur’an selama ini lebih banyak berfokus pada teknik hafalan dan capaian pedagogis, sementara pembentukan kesadaran religius melalui praktik menghafal masih relatif kurang mendapat perhatian. Penelitian ini menganalisis bagaimana metode sabaq berfungsi sebagai proses pembentukan habitus Qur’ani dan kesadaran religius yang embodied pada santri di At-Taqwa School, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dalam kerangka Living Qur’an dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi kegiatan tahfidz. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik repetisi hafalan merupakan bentuk lived engagement with the Qur’an yang berlangsung melalui dimensi kognitif, afektif, dan praksis. Ayat-ayat yang dihafal tidak hanya direproduksi secara verbal, tetapi juga dikaitkan dengan refleksi moral, keterikatan emosional, disiplin spiritual, dan perilaku religius sehari-hari. Dengan menggunakan konsep habitus Pierre Bourdieu, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa praktik tahfidz berfungsi sebagai mekanisme habituasi religius yang menginternalisasikan nilai-nilai Qur’ani ke dalam disposisi, ritme tubuh, dan subjektivitas sosial-keagamaan santri. Dalam konteks Muslim minoritas di Thailand, tahfidz juga berfungsi sebagai medium reproduksi identitas Islam dan pelestarian budaya Qur’ani. Abstract

This study analyzes the concept of political elite lifestyles from the perspective of the Qur’an through a comparative interpretative approach toward Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Tafsir Al-Azhar by Hamka, and Tafsir Al-Misbah by M. Quraish Shihab. The research employs a qualitative method based on library research by examining QS. Al-A’raf [7]: 31, QS. Al-Isra’ [17]: 26–29, QS. Al-Furqan [25]: 67, and QS. Luqman [31]: 18–19. The findings reveal that the three exegetes equally reject israf (excessiveness), tabdzir (wastefulness), and takabbur (arrogance) as deviations from leadership ethics, although they differ in their interpretative approaches. Ibn Kathir emphasizes a normative-textual approach, Hamka highlights social criticism toward consumerism and social inequality, while Quraish Shihab develops the dimensions of public ethics and responsibility in the exercise of power. The novelty of this study lies in its effort to connect Qur’anic interpretation with the phenomenon of modern political elite lifestyles through the perspective of Islamic political ethics. This study affirms that the values of moderation, social justice, and humility remain relevant as moral foundations of leadership in contemporary political contexts.
