Abstract

The nutritional status of pregnant women significantly influences stunting in toddlers, as reflected by upper arm circumference measurements during the first trimester. Based on the Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey, stunting in Batanghari Regency decreased to 24% in 2021 but rose again to 26% in 2022, highlighting pregnancy as a critical period affecting future life quality. This quantitative study employed an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional design, conducted in the Community Health Center Work Area in Batanghari Regency, focusing on areas with the highest stunting prevalence. The research was carried out over eight months (March–November 2023) with a sample of 245 pregnant women in their second and third trimesters. Results showed that 40.4% of pregnant women experienced anemia. Statistically significant factors influencing anemia among pregnant women included family income, upper arm circumference, body mass index, TT injection services, blood pressure monitoring, provision of iron supplement tablets, and uterine fundal height measurements. It is recommended to enhance pregnant women's access to healthcare services to improve their awareness of anemia risks and support better nutritional and health outcomes, which in turn can reduce anemia prevalence.

Abstract

Underweight in toddlers remains a nutritional problem in Indonesia, including in the working area of Tanjung Pinang Public Health Center, Jambi City. One factor affecting toddlers’ nutritional status is dietary patterns influenced by parents’ knowledge regarding toddler feeding practices. The use of TikTok social media as a health education platform has considerable potential to improve parents’ knowledge and behavior related to toddler feeding. This study aimed to determine the effect of TikTok-based toddler feeding education on toddlers’ dietary patterns in the working area of Tanjung Pinang Public Health Center. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 57 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. The intervention group received educational videos through TikTok, while the control group received leaflet media. Dietary patterns were measured using the 24-Hour Food Recall instrument before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using Paired Sample t-test and Independent Sample t-test. The results showed an improvement in toddlers’ dietary patterns in the intervention group, indicated by increased intake of calories, protein, fat, and carbohydrates after the educational intervention. TikTok-based education had an effect on toddlers’ dietary patterns and can be utilized as an effective health education medium for parents.
