Abstract

This research explores the challenges faced by fifth-grade elementary students in understanding Simple Past Tense and Past Continuous Tense, along with strategies to improve their learning. Applying a qualitative case study approach, the study identifies both internal factors such as cognitive development, motivation, and prior language knowledge and external influences like teaching methods, educational tools, and support from their environment. Drawing from expert theories on language acquisition and instructional techniques, various solutions are examined, including interactive teaching, contextual learning, and digital tools that reinforce grammar concepts. The findings highlight that engaging learning environments, scaffolding strategies, and multimedia integration significantly enhance students' comprehension of Past Tense structures. Collaboration among teachers, students, and parents plays a crucial role in overcoming these obstacles, ensuring more effective and meaningful grammar instruction

Abstract

This study aims to examine how audiovisual media influence the tolerance attitudes of fifth-grade students at SDN 064976. The foundation of this research is the decline in students’ tolerance due to conventional teaching methods that are less engaging. The study employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (one-group pretest-posttest). The participants consist of 30 students. Data were collected using a Likert scale survey that evaluated aspects of respecting differences, cooperation, and mutual appreciation. The findings show a significant improvement in students’ tolerance attitudes after the use of audiovisual media. The average pretest score of 44.083% increased to 89.208% in the posttest, indicating an improvement of 45.125%. These results demonstrate that audiovisual media can enhance students’ understanding and application of tolerance values by providing engaging, interactive, and easily comprehensible learning experiences. Therefore, the effective use of audiovisual media fosters tolerant character development among elementary school students.

Abstract

Bilingual learning has emerged as a significant trend in higher education, particularly within the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) program. This article examines the impact of bilingual instruction on students’ academic competence, pedagogical skills, and cognitive development, drawing on language acquisition theory, recent literature, and empirical studies from the past four years. Findings indicate that bilingual practices strengthen academic communication, enhance digital literacy, and better prepare students to teach in increasingly multilingual elementary classrooms. Nevertheless, challenges such as language anxiety, cognitive load, and limited academic support remain obstacles. This study also provides recommendations for effective strategies in implementing bilingual learning within PGSD programs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk menelaah kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa kelas 2 sekolah dasar dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal geometri dan pengukuran melalui penerapan metode Newman. Metode ini dipilih karena mampu menguraikan tahapan berpikir siswa secara sistematis, sehingga kesalahan yang muncul dapat diidentifikasi dengan lebih jelas. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 20 siswa, di mana 15 siswa berhasil menjawab seluruh soal dengan benar, sementara 5 siswa lainnya masih melakukan kesalahan. Analisis Newman digunakan untuk mengklasifikasikan kesalahan yang terjadi ke dalam lima kategori, yaitu kesalahan membaca soal, kesalahan memahami soal, kesalahan transformasi, kesalahan keterampilan proses, serta kesalahan dalam menuliskan jawaban akhir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan yang paling sering muncul terdapat pada tahap memahami soal dan keterampilan proses. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa sebagian siswa belum sepenuhnya mampu menafsirkan maksud soal dengan tepat serta masih mengalami hambatan dalam melaksanakan prosedur perhitungan secara sistematis. Temuan tersebut menegaskan perlunya strategi pembelajaran yang menitikberatkan pada pemahaman konsep dasar sekaligus latihan prosedural yang berkesinambungan. Guru diharapkan dapat memperkuat pendekatan berbasis pemahaman konsep, memanfaatkan media konkret untuk membantu siswa memahami materi abstrak, serta menerapkan scaffolding atau pemberian dukungan bertahap dalam latihan soal geometri dan pengukuran. Dengan penerapan strategi tersebut, siswa diharapkan mampu mengurangi kesalahan sekaligus meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir matematis secara lebih mendalam
