Abstract

The purpose of this study is a communicative approach that emphasizes students' communicative abilities, both in formal and informal settings. The characteristics of the communicative approach are presented from the point of view of students, the role of teachers, teaching tools, and educational goals. The communicative approach is viewed in terms of students, the learning process, and goals in education. The main goal of the communicative approach is to make students capable or have communicative competence. The communicative approach is used fully with student centered while the teacher is only as a facilitator. In this study, the communicative approach in learning muhadatsah is applied through Gagne's learning theory in order to increase effectiveness in the development of students who are still difficult to communicate, especially Arabic. In this study, researchers used a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection methods used were observation, interview, and documentary. Data analysis proposed by Milles & Huberman and researchers used the triangulation method to correct the data. The result of this study is the use of communicative approach in teaching speaking, namely: Communicative approach teaching planning in Al-Qodiri Islamic Junior High School Jember, communicative approach uses strategies and learning theory of Gagne in educational stages to make students play an active role during the educational process, and teachers must also have the skills to teach speaking.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of ecolinguistic factors on the misuse of ḍamīr (pronouns) in Arabic conversations among students in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). Employing a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and linguistic error analysis. The findings indicate that environmental elements—such as the habitual use of local languages and the limited exposure to Arabic in daily interactions—significantly contribute to errors in the use of ḍamīr. Among the types of pronouns, ḍamīr muttaṣil exhibited the highest frequency of errors (60%), followed by ḍamīr munfaṣil (30%) and ḍamīr mustatir (10%). These errors occurred more frequently in informal contexts, underscoring the role of situational language use. The study highlights the critical role of an immersive and supportive language environment in fostering accurate Arabic usage. Its implications are relevant for the refinement of Arabic language instruction in pesantren, offering pedagogical recommendations to enhance language competence through ecolinguistically responsive teaching strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of 3D media integration and interactive videos in improving speaking skills (maharah kalam) of Madrasah Tsanawiyah students. The background of this study is the low ability of students in speaking Arabic due to monotonous learning methods and minimal interaction. The method used is qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews, classroom observations, and questionnaires. The research subjects consisted of teachers and students of class VIII MTs Miftahul Ulum Rambipuji Jember who were actively involved in this technology-based learning. The results showed significant improvement in vocabulary (from 58% to 86%), sentence structure (52% to 81%), and contex-tual application (47% to 79%). 3D media was shown to strengthen visual comprehension and linguistic context, while interactive videos encouraged active participation and better pronunciation through immedi-ate feedback. The findings indicate that an integrative approach between visual and interactive media can improve students' cognitive and affective aspects simultaneously. The study recommends wider implemen-tation of digital media in the Arabic curriculum as well as continuous teacher training to maximize the po-tential of technology in improving students' productive skills.
