Abstract

Background: Indonesia is highly prone to natural disasters, including floods, landslides, and earthquakes. Among the most vulnerable are children, particularly elementary school students. Disaster education is essential for enhancing their resilience and preparedness. Objective: This systematic review examines the impact of disaster education on the resilience of elementary school students in Indonesia, with a focus on how educational interventions improve disaster preparedness and psychological recovery. Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, studies published between 2019 and 2024 were analyzed. Data were collected from ProQuest and EBSCO databases using keywords related to disaster education in Indonesian elementary schools. Included studies evaluated disaster education programs and their effects on students' resilience and preparedness. Results: Three studies met the inclusion criteria. Interventions, including 3D virtual simulations, moral comics, and traditional games, were found to effectively enhance disaster awareness and resilience. The review also highlights the importance of culturally relevant approaches to trauma recovery and emphasizes the need for a child-centered focus in disaster education. Conclusion: Disaster education significantly enhances the preparedness and resilience of Indonesian elementary school students. Integrating disaster education into school curricula and employing culturally appropriate methods are critical for building a more disaster-resilient generation. Broader implementation of these programs is necessary within Indonesia's education system.

The 23rd Regular KKN activity of Teuku Umar University was carried out in Kota Bahagia Village, Kuala Batee District, Southwest Aceh Regency, with a focus on optimizing village resources in order to realize sustainable economic and social resilience. The method used is a participatory approach through observation, interviews, and implementation of work programs. The main programs implemented include making trash cans from used paint buckets, producing organic fertilizer from dry leaves, and innovating agricultural processing in the form of spinach chips. The results of the study showed that the KKN program had a positive impact on the community, especially in increasing awareness of waste management and environmental cleanliness. In addition, product innovation based on village potential opens up new business opportunities that contribute to improving the community's economy. Abstract

In rural areas of Indonesia, such as Nagari Batagak, West Sumatra, limited access to health services emphasizes the need for promotive and preventive interventions. The program aims to increase awareness of regular health check-ups and the prevention of degenerative diseases. The program method was implemented on June 16, 2025, involving 35 elderly people aged 60–80 years in Jorong Sawah Liek, Nagari Batagak, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. Activities included basic health checks (blood pressure, blood sugar, Body Mass Index, mid-upper arm circumference), nutritional screening (MNA), sarcopenia screening (SARC-F and handgrip strength), and cognitive screening (MMSE). Health education was provided on healthy aging, nutrition, rational drug use, and sarcopenia prevention. Data analysis was conducted using frequency distribution, univariate, and bivariate analyses. The results showed that the majority of participants were aged 60–70 years (71.4%) and female (82.9%). Obesity was not significantly associated with blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, or uric acid levels. However, older adults without obesity remain at risk for hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, and hyperuricemia. Handgrip strength testing showed that 56% of participants experienced muscle weakness, with a slightly higher prevalence in men (60%) than in women (55%). These findings indicate a high risk of sarcopenia, which increases susceptibility to mobility limitations and the risk of falls. Therefore, community-based health screening and education are important regardless of obesity status.
