Abstract

Building reading literacy skills in children must start early, besides that the learning process needs to be presented with methods that are fun for children. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of developing interactive media “Game Huruf” in improving reading literacy skills in group B children at Dharma Wanita Persatuan 7 Sengguruh Kindergarten. This research and development uses the Research and Development (R&D) approach method. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis method used involves qualitative and quantitative descriptions. Based on the results of validation from material experts obtained a number 87 with a percentage of 98.86% classified as “Very Feasible”. Meanwhile, the material expert obtained a score of 76 and a percentage of 100% classified as “Very Feasible”. Based on the limited scale and broad scale trials, the results showed that there were six children who had not shown their ability when arranging letters to become simple words (names of fruits) and there were still children who did not understand the relationship between the sound and shape of the letters. Meanwhile, the other six children were able to recognize various vowel to consonant letter symbols, arrange letters into simple words (such as the names of fruits), and understand the relationship between sounds and letter shapes.

Abstract

This study A sense of responsibility in early childhood does not develop automatically but rather through the imitation of behaviors and habits of people in their surroundings. This study aims to enhance children's sense of responsibility through storytelling and role-playing methods. The subjects of the study were 15 kindergarten B students at TK Muslimat NU 5 Sholeh Yusuf, located in Kidal Village, Tumpang District. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and Taggart model, conducted in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings and involving four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed qualitatively. The observed indicators of responsibility included the ability to complete tasks, take care of personal and others' belongings, and tidy up tools after use. The results showed a significant improvement from 62.7% in the pre-cycle to 81.6% in the second meeting of the second cycle. Specifically, 80% of the children were able to complete tasks, 80% could take care of personal belongings, and 86.6% were able to tidy up tools after use. These findings indicate that the implemented methods had not only a statistically positive impact but also reflected real behavioral changes in the children's daily lives. Storytelling allowed children to internalize moral values in an imaginative way, while role-playing provided direct experiences in practicing responsibility. Both methods align with Vygotsky’s constructivist theory, which emphasizes the importance of social learning. Therefore, storytelling and role-playing are effective in developing a sense of responsibility in early childhood. Keywords:  Storytelling Method; Role Playing; Responsibility

Abstract

The development of fine motor skills in early childhood tends to progress more slowly than gross motor skills, thus requiring continuous stimulation to reach optimal growth. Children with well-developed fine motor skills generally perform better in academic areas such as writing and arithmetic. This study aims to examine the implementation of a tempe-based cooking class activity in improving the fine motor skills of children aged 5–6 years at KB Agung Kencana Randuagung Singosari, involving 20 students as subjects. The research employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method using the spiral model by Kemmis and McTaggart, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages carried out over two cycles. The researcher acted as a facilitator and active observer, collaborating with the teacher. The observed indicators of fine motor skills included the children's ability to grate, squeeze, mix, and shape tempe dough. The results showed a significant improvement from an average of 54% in the pre-cycle stage to 91% by the end of the second cycle. This demonstrates that cooking classes using local ingredients such as tempe not only provide enjoyable learning experiences but are also effective in enhancing children’s manipulative skills. Future research is recommended to explore other local materials as learning media to support various aspects of early childhood development. Abstract

Bullying in early childhood is a serious issue due to its negative impact on children's social and emotional development. This study aims to examine the role of parenting programs in preventing bullying behavior at TK Muslimat NU 1 Ngebruk. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that forms of bullying included physical, verbal, and non-verbal types, frequently occurring in children’s daily school activities. The parenting program implemented by the school has been effective in increasing parents' understanding of the dangers of bullying and in strengthening positive parenting practices at home. Through active parental involvement, there has been a rise in awareness of the importance of character education, effective communication, and empathy. Thus, the parenting program proves to be an effective preventive measure in creating a safe and supportive learning environment for optimal child development.

Abstract

Independence is a crucial aspect in early childhood development, which needs to be instilled early so that children grow into confident and resilient individuals, and are responsible. Initial observations at the Jabal Tsur Tajinan Playgroup (KB) showed that most children aged 3-4 years, 70%, had not shown optimal independence, still depending on adults for daily activities. This condition was caused by a lack of appropriate stimulation and the tendency of adults to be too helpful, which hindered the development of an independent attitude. This study aims to increase the independence of children aged 3-4 years at the Jabal Tsur Tajinan Playgroup. This study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design The PTK process is carried out in a repetitive cycle which includes Planning, Implementation (acting), Observation (observing), and reflection (reflecting). The study population was 12 children in group A aged 3-4 years at KB Jabal Tsur Tajinan, consisting of 6 girls and 6 boys. The research instrument was an observation sheet and an assessment rubric that included indicators of child independence. Dialysis data was descriptive. The results of initial observations showed that the average achievement of child independence was only 36%. After the implementation of Practical Life through role playing, there was a significant increase. In cycle I, the average achievement increased to 60%. Further increases occurred in cycle II, reaching an average of 92%. This approach has proven to be a significant learning tool to support the independence of early childhood, with children showing increased ability to carry out daily activities independently. These results are expected to be a reference for educators and PAUD institutions in developing fun learning models to optimally support children's independence.

Abstract

The pre-reading ability of children in Group B at TK Muslimat NU 1 Raudlatul Ulum is still relatively low; out of 17 children, 10 were unable to recognize the syllable cards ba, ca, and da (consonant-vowel). This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of implementing loosepart media based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) in improving children's pre-reading skills. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach with two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection, involving 17 children as subjects. The instruments used included observation sheets and interview guides, analyzed qualitatively. The results showed a significant improvement in pre-reading ability; 95% of the children were able to recognize vowels, consonants, and spell consonant-vowel syllables correctly after the implementation of loosepart based on PjBL. These findings indicate that loosepart media based on PjBL is effective in supporting early literacy development, while also providing an innovative learning strategy that can be applied in kindergartens to enhance children's reading skills from an early age.
