Abstract

Low social awareness can lead to bullying, which has a negative impact on individuals. Therefore, social awareness is essential to prevent bullying. Social awareness can be raised through various media, like song lyrics. Lyrics containing messages of social awareness can be used to grow social awareness on society. Song lyrics are a form of mass communication that can convey messages to a wide audience. Through lyrics, songs can deliver various messages, including those related to social awareness. This research aims to identify and describe the representation of social awareness messages in the lyrics of the song "Mean" using a qualitative approach and Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic analysis method. The study is grounded in concepts of mass communication, song lyrics, popular culture, popular music, and social awareness messages. The results reveal that the lyrics of "Mean" in stanzas 1, 2, 5, and 6 represent social awareness messages to prevent bullying by potraying its harmful effects. Meanwhile, stanzas 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, and 10 provide motivation and support to the bullying victims, encouraging them to build self-confidence and courage to stand on their own feet. Rendahnya kesadaran sosial dapat mengakibatkan terjadinya perundungan yang berdampak buruk pada individu. Oleh karena itu, kesadaran sosial diperlukan untuk mencegah perundungan. Kesadaran sosial dapat dibangun melalui berbagai media salah satunya melalui lirik lagu. Lirik lagu yang mengandung pesan kesadaran sosial dapat menjadi sarana untuk membangun kesadaran sosial dalam masyarakat. Lirik lagu merupakan salah satu bentuk komunikasi massa yang dapat digunakan untuk menyampaikan pesan kepada khalayak luas. Melalui lirik lagu, lagu dapat mengandung berbagai pesan, termasuk pesan kesadaran sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan pesan kesadaran sosial yang direpresentasikan dalam lirik lagu “Mean” menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode analisis semiotika Ferdinand De Saussure. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan landasan konsep komunikasi massa, lirik lagu, budaya populer, musik populer dan pesan kesadaran sosial. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa lirik lagu “Mean” pada bait 1, 2, 5 dan 6 merepresentasikan pesan kesadaran sosial guna mencegah perundungan dengan menggambarkan dampak buruk perundungan serta pada bait 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 dan 10 memberi motivasi dan dukungan kepada korban perundungan untuk membangun kepercayaan dan keberanian diri agar dapat bangkit dari perundungan.

Abstract

The aging process is a natural stage in human life which is accompanied by physical, cognitive and social changes. In this context, the elderly are a population that requires special attention to ensure optimal quality of life. The social aspect of this activity includes exploring social support networks and participation in community activities. Detailed analysis of how social relationships influence the well-being of older adults is an important element in understanding the social impact of the aging process. An elderly home or nursing home is a place of care that is built specifically to provide housing, care and support to elderly people who need more attention for various reasons, such as declining physical or mental health, dependence on care, or lack of adequate family support. “Berbagi Kebahagiaan Bersama Lansia: Membangun Keterlibatan Sosial dan Kesejahteraan Melalui Kegiatan Positif” aims to create a creative activity space where the elderly can participate in various artistic and social activities. The methods used are observation, interviews, implementation methods include observing the implementation location, discussions with the administrators of elderly homes, carrying out BERKREASI activities by doing gymnastics and singing together. The program covers key aspects of creative programming, including event design, senior participation and health impacts. The results of the BERKREASI activity include making the elderly move healthily through exercise, increasing the enthusiasm and joy of the elderly through games with prizes and entertaining the elderly through singing together.
