Abstract

The ability to identify and control emotions is referred to as emotional intelligence, which is crucial for building interpersonal relationships and influencing leadership styles. The aim of this study is to explore the impact of leadership styles among students actively participating in organisations are influenced by emotional intelligence. The study investigates the connection between leadership styles and emotional intelligence using a quantitative methodology and basic linear regression analysis. The four components of emotional intelligence are: Self-Emotion Appraisal (the capacity to identify one's own feelings), Others' Emotion Appraisal (the capacity to comprehend others' feelings), Use of Emotion (utilizing emotions in decision-making), and Regulation of Emotion (managing emotions). The leadership styles analyzed include democratic, authoritarian, and laissez-faire styles. To collect data, students were asked to fill out questionnaires. Based on the results of the regression analysis, emotional intelligence has a 6.9% impact on leadership style, showing a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.069. The two variables indeed have a relationship, but it is not very strong, indicating that other characteristics, including organisational experience, might be more important. Therefore, the development of emotional intelligence should be complemented by enhancing communication skills and other aspects that support effective leadership. Kecerdasan emosional merujuk pada kemampuan untuk memahami dan mengatur emosi, yang sangat vital dalam menjalin hubungan interpersonal dan memengaruhi gaya kepemimpinan. Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh kecerdasan emosional terhadap gaya kepemimpinan di kalangan mahasiswa yang aktif dalam organisasi. Dengan memanfaatkan pendekatan kuantitatif dan teknik analisis regresi linear sederhana, studi ini berfokus pada hubungan antara kecerdasan emosional dan gaya kepemimpinan. Kecerdasan emosional didefinisikan melalui empat dimensi utama: Kemampuan Mengenali Emosi Diri (kesadaran terhadap emosi pribadi), Kemampuan Memahami Emosi Orang Lain (memahami emosi orang lain), Pemanfaatan Emosi (menggunakan emosi dalam proses pengambilan keputusan), dan Pengendalian Emosi (mengelola emosi secara efektif). Gaya kepemimpinan yang dianalisis mencakup gaya demokratis, otoriter, dan laissez-faire. Data dikumpulkan melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada mahasiswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis regresi, koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,069 mengindikasikan bahwa kecerdasan emosional memberikan pengaruh sebesar 6,9% terhadap gaya kepemimpinan. Meskipun terdapat hubungan antara kedua variabel tersebut, pengaruhnya tergolong rendah, menunjukkan bahwa faktor lain seperti pengalaman organisasi mungkin memiliki peranan yang lebih besar. Oleh karena itu, pengembangan kecerdasan emosional harus diimbangi dengan peningkatan keterampilan komunikasi dan elemen lain yang mendukung efektivitas kepemimpinan.

Abstract

The aging process is a natural stage in human life which is accompanied by physical, cognitive and social changes. In this context, the elderly are a population that requires special attention to ensure optimal quality of life. The social aspect of this activity includes exploring social support networks and participation in community activities. Detailed analysis of how social relationships influence the well-being of older adults is an important element in understanding the social impact of the aging process. An elderly home or nursing home is a place of care that is built specifically to provide housing, care and support to elderly people who need more attention for various reasons, such as declining physical or mental health, dependence on care, or lack of adequate family support. “Berbagi Kebahagiaan Bersama Lansia: Membangun Keterlibatan Sosial dan Kesejahteraan Melalui Kegiatan Positif” aims to create a creative activity space where the elderly can participate in various artistic and social activities. The methods used are observation, interviews, implementation methods include observing the implementation location, discussions with the administrators of elderly homes, carrying out BERKREASI activities by doing gymnastics and singing together. The program covers key aspects of creative programming, including event design, senior participation and health impacts. The results of the BERKREASI activity include making the elderly move healthily through exercise, increasing the enthusiasm and joy of the elderly through games with prizes and entertaining the elderly through singing together.
