Abstract

The Mappadekko Documentary Film is a form of cultural preservation that raises the issue of the role of traditional leaders in preserving a nearly extinct annual tradition in Camba District. Mappadekko is a form of gratitude to God Almighty for the success of planting rice. The narrative structure of this film employs the 5W+1H framework for storytelling. The film employs an expository directing approach. The expository directing approach primarily documents the involvement of traditional leaders in the Mappadekko tradition through the use of narration and interviews. This style prioritizes informal shooting activities to convey the message directly to the audience, minimizing the potential for other interpretations. The Mappadekko documentary film conveys a message that urges the audience, particularly the younger generation, to prioritize cultural awareness and preservation

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji proses komunikasi psikologis dalam gastrosinema melalui analisis lintas budaya film "The Hundred-Foot Journey" (2014). Kajian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana sinema kuliner berfungsi sebagai "mesin penghubung" antara pesan gastronomi film dengan imajinasi penonton melalui proses berurutan persepsi, kognisi, emosi, dan pembentukan memori. Kerangka teoretis mengintegrasikan teori komunikasi psikologis dengan kajian komunikasi antarbudaya untuk memahami bagaimana gastrosinema menciptakan theatre of mind. Ia menjadi ruang kognitif di mana penonton menghidupi narasi kuliner secara eksperiensial. Melalui analisis visual sekuens fusi kuliner India-Prancis, penelitian ini menghasilkan bagaimana gastrosinema mempromosikan gastronomi lokal dengan melibatkan persepsi sensori, respons emosional, dan aktivasi memori secara bersamaan. Stimuli visual (persiapan makanan, estetika plating), elemen auditori (suara memasak), dan komponen naratif (tradisi keluarga, identitas budaya) menciptakan pesan komunikatif kompleks yang diproses melalui memori makanan penonton. Temuan mengungkapkan bahwa gastrosinema melampaui konsumsi visual dengan memicu memori episodik dan kolektif, memungkinkan penonton "merasakan" aroma dan "mengalami" autentisitas budaya.
