Abstract

Value education requires a holistic approach so that values can be fully internalized in the daily lives of students. One of the relevant theoretical frameworks in understanding the complexity of this process is the ecological development theory proposed by Urie Bronfenbrenner. This theory offers a comprehensive perspective by emphasizing the importance of interactions between systems in the individual's development environment. This study aims to examine the relevance of Bronfenbrenner's ecological development theory in the context of value education as a comprehensive and integrated process. The method used in this study is library research, with primary data sources in the form of Bronfenbrenner's original works, and supported by secondary sources such as books, scientific journals, and other relevant literature. Bronfenbrenner's theory states that noble values such as Pancasila can become living values if they are internalized through a consistent and sustainable interaction process in all levels of the environment, starting from family, school, society, to broader social and cultural policies. Therefore, a holistic approach to value education needs to consider all systemic dimensions that influence individual development. The contribution of this research is to enrich the study of educational values with the integration of five ecological systems (microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem, and chronosystem) as interrelated dimensions in the process of internalizing values and to emphasize that internalizing values such as Pancasila requires the active involvement of all social environments that influence individuals, from the family to the cultural system and state policies.

Abstract

Bullying in schools remains a serious issue in Indonesia, threatening adolescents’ psychological well-being. A lack of tolerance and empathy contributes to conflicts and bullying among students. The “Awardee Mengabdi” community service program by LPDP UNY cohort 11.0 was implemented under the theme “Embracing Diversity, Stopping Bullying.” This program, in the form of an interactive seminar and group discussions, aimed to increase junior high school students’ awareness of the importance of tolerance, empathy, healthy communication, and bullying prevention. The methods included expert lectures, interactive ice-breaking games, group case discussions, and the formation of anti-bullying commitments. The results show that 60 participating students were highly enthusiastic and actively engaged in Q&A and discussions. Their knowledge of various forms of bullying and its impacts improved, as reflected in their enhanced ability to identify bullying cases and propose prevention steps. Teachers and parents observed positive changes in students’ attitudes after the program, such as greater respect for diversity and courage to say no to bullying. In conclusion, the program achieved its goal of fostering a culture of tolerance and anti-bullying at school. It is recommended that continuous collaboration among schools, students, and stakeholders be carried out to ensure the program’s sustainable impact.

Abstract

This study aims to review empirical research on the implementation of ecological citizenship. Citizen engagement as ecological citizenship is indispensable in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is especially important to prepare the younger generation to face the challenges of global climate change. Ecological citizenship is an awareness of caring for nature and the environment based on the rights and obligations of a good citizen. The method used in this research is a systematic literature review using the Prisma protocol. Data were sourced from articles published in the last 10 years and then categorized based on the year of research, type of research, and research instruments used. Data analysis was conducted by extracting meaningful information from the selected literature, identifying findings, and presenting them. The findings of this research show that there are several examples of ecological citizenship implementation strategies implemented in several countries. This study is expected to provide important information to the government and non-government in the implementation strategy of ecological citizenship.
