Abstract

Tumbuhan paku kaki tupai (Davalia denticulata) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan paku epifit yang tumbuh pada kelapa sawit dan digunakan untuk mengurangi kandungan asam urat.. Beberapa spesies dari genus ini dilaporkan telah digunakan sebagai obat tradisional untuk mengobati penyakit infeksi dan juga kanker di Taiwan.  Tetapi, pada spesies ini kandungan metabolit sekunder dan tingkat toksisitasnya belum di laporkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji tingkat toksisitas dari beberapa ekstrak dari tumbuhan paku kaki tupai. Tumbuhan dikering-anginkan kemudian diekstraksi dengan metode maserasi dengan pelarut metanol, etil asetat dan n-heksana. Masing-masing ekstrak dilakukan pengujian toksisitas dengan menggunakan metode Brinne Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Pada penelitian ini didapatkan empat ekstrak dari pelarut yang berbeda-beda. Masing-masing ekstrak dilakukan pengujian BSLT. Hasil dari pengujian ini di dapat bahwa ekstrak etil asetat memiliki toksisitas yang tinggi dengan LC50 sebesar 119,8 ppm diikuti oleh ekstrak methanol dengan LC50 sebesar 215,5 ppm. Sedangkan ekstrak heksan memiliki nilai LC50 > 1000 ppm. Berdasarkan laporan yang ada, jika hasil BSLT menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak tumbuhan bersifat toksik maka dapat dikembangkan ke penelitian lebih lanjut untuk mengisolasi senyawa sitotoksik tumbuhan sebagai usaha pengembangan obat alternatif anti kanker. Pengujian toksisitas dari tanaman ini didapatkan bahwa ekstrak etil asetat dan methanol memiliki tingkat toksistas yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu diperlukan pengujian isolasi senyawa metabolit sekunder dari ekstrak tersebut dan dilakukan pengujian toksisitasnya sehingga diharapkan memiliki senyawa yang bersifat antikanker.

Abstract

Desa Malang Rapat menghadapi tantangan dalam komunikasi antara masyarakat dan pemerintah desa, terutama dalam penyampaian keluhan dan aspirasi. Proses manual yang selama ini digunakan kurang efektif dalam mendokumentasikan serta menindaklanjuti pengaduan warga. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan transparansi dan efisiensi komunikasi melalui pengembangan website pengaduan berbasis digital. Metode yang digunakan dalam program ini mencakup observasi lapangan, wawancara dengan aparat desa dan masyarakat, serta pengembangan website menggunakan teknologi berbasis HTML, CSS, dan JavaScript. Uji coba dilakukan dengan melibatkan perwakilan warga untuk menilai kemudahan penggunaan dan efektivitas sistem. Selain itu, dilakukan sosialisasi dan pelatihan untuk meningkatkan literasi digital masyarakat, sehingga mereka dapat memanfaatkan sistem ini secara optimal. Hasil sosialisasi yang dilakukan meningkatkan literasi digital warga, peserta pelatihan mampu menggunakan website secara mandiri. Hasil PkM ini telah dibuatkan website pengaduan masyarakat, telah disosialisasikan kepada masyarakat dan perangkat desa yang bertugas sebagai admin dari website tersebut. Implikasi dari kegiatan ini ini menegaskan bahwa penerapan teknologi informasi dalam pemerintahan desa harus diiringi dengan peningkatan literasi digital.

Abstract

An epiphytic fern known as Davalia denticulata, which is a member of the Davalliaceae family, grows on oil palm. It has been reported that several different species within this genus have been used as anticancer agents, antimicrobial agents, and antioxidants. However, there has been no report of any biological activity associated with this species. As a result, the purpose of this study was to extract secondary metabolites and assess the cytotoxicity of the extracts. The maceration method was used to extract this plant with a variety of solvents (methanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane), and the MTS assay was utilized to determine the cytotoxicity of this plant in relation to lung cancer (A549 cell line). According to the findings, the extracts exhibited a wide variety of activity toward the A549 cell line. The IC50 for the activity of the ethyl acetate extract was found to be 317.59 ppm, whereas the IC50s for the water and n-hexane extracts were 575.41 and 806.06 ppm, respectively. These observations allow for a better understanding of the cytotoxicity of the species, which can then serve as a foundation for further research into the isolation and bioactivity of secondary metabolites.

Abstract

Indonesia has a rich biodiversity, including the putri malu plant (Mimosa pudica L.) which is known to have secondary metabolites with medicinal potential but has not been fully utilized. The purpose of this work is to isolate and analyze secondary metabolites from M. pudica. The aerial portions were dried and macerated in methanol before being partitioned using n-hexane, dichloromethane, and ethyl acetate solvents. The ethyl acetate extract was separated using liquid vacuum chromatography, then recrystallized and purity tested (KLT, melting point, and HPLC). The chemical structure was characterized using UV-Vis, FTIR, and NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopy. One of the 17 fractions generated pure yellow crystals with a melting point of 242-244°C and single prominent peak on HPLC. The study revealed that the chemical was quercetin, a flavonoid with a variety of biological functions. This study demonstrates that M. pudica include active flavonoid compounds that can supportaid in the development of herbal medications based on natural ingredients. These findings lay the groundwork for additional research into its bioactivity and pharmacological potential, particularly as an antidiabetic drug and antioxidant.

Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to address the lack of street lighting in Kampung Banjar, Tanjung Pinang by implementing a solar-powered public street lighting system. The methodology included site surveys, system design, installation of components (10WP solar panels, 12V batteries, LDR sensors, and LED lights), and community training for system maintenance. The results demonstrated that the system successfully enhanced community safety and comfort by providing stable nighttime illumination, while also supporting economic and social activities. Additionally, the system proved environmentally friendly and cost-effective due to its reliance on renewable energy. This project highlights how simple solar-based technology can significantly improve the quality of life in underserved rural areas.

Abstract

Wastewater originating from medical facilities, particularly hospitals, serves as an important reservoir for Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL)-producing bacteria. This study assessed ESBL-producing strains of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia in the inlet and outlet of wastewater treatment systems, as well as in downstream sewage from a community health center and a public provincial referral hospital in Pekanbaru, Indonesia, during the period of Oktober to December 2023. The analysis included the enumeration of bacterial colonies for presumptive ESBL-producing E. coli and K. pneumoniae, phenotypic confirmation of ESBL production, and identification of ESBL-associated genes. Substantial quantities of presumptive ESBL-producing E. coli and K. pneumoniae were identified in both the inlet and outlet of hospital wastewater, as well as in downstream sewage water. In contrast, wastewater from the community health center contained only E. coli in the inlet samples. Phenotypic testing confirmed ESBL production in two samples (11.1%). The ESBL genes blaCTX, blaTEM, and blaSHV were detected in seven (38.9%), three (16.7%), and one isolates (11.1%), respectively. These findings highlight wastewater as a significant reservoir of ESBL-producing bacteria and underscore the need for strengthened strategies to limit their release into the environment. Effective mitigation requires targeted measures to reduce ESBL-producing bacteria in wastewater, along with continuous monitoring and control of wastewater treatment systems to prevent further dissemination of antibiotic resistance into aquatic ecosystems.

Abstract

The increasing demand for natural and environmentally sustainable cosmetic products has stimulated interest in utilizing mangrove-derived bioactive compounds as alternative ingredients in lip balm formulations. Mangrove species are recognized as rich sources of secondary metabolites, including flavonoids, polyphenols, tannins, terpenoids, and natural lipids, which exhibit antioxidant and protective properties beneficial for lip care applications. This study aimed to systematically evaluate the potential of mangrove species as active ingredients in lip balm formulations by examining their phytochemical characteristics, antioxidant activities, and formulation performance. A Systematic Literature Review approach was employed following the PRISMA framework, involving the collection, screening, and synthesis of relevant studies published between 2020 and 2025. Eighteen eligible primary research articles were included in the final analysis. The results demonstrated that Sonneratia alba, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Ceriops tagal, Rhizophora mucronata, and Avicennia marina possess diverse bioactive compounds and promising antioxidant activities, with several species exhibiting very strong antioxidant capacity based on IC₅₀ values. Furthermore, lip balm formulations containing mangrove extracts generally fulfilled cosmetic quality requirements, including appropriate pH, good homogeneity, acceptable melting points, physical stability, and non-irritating properties. These findings highlight the potential of mangrove extracts as multifunctional natural ingredients for developing safe, effective, and sustainable lip balm products, while supporting the value-added utilization of coastal biological resources and promoting future innovation in natural cosmetic formulations.
