Abstract

Abstract

The research was aimed to identify the fungus that cause the disease in dragon fruit plants (Hylocereus undatus (Haw) Britton & Rose). The research was done in Kecamatan Perbaungan and in Plant Disease Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture ,University of Nort Sumatra. This research used survey method sampling using accidental sampling method is that sampling technique is done according to requirement by observing visual attact symptom on every part of plant and breed in laboratory to get pure culture and microscopic identification. Parameters observed were macroscopic observation, microscopic observation, symptoms of plant disease attack, and quesionary support data. The result showed that the fungus causing the disease in the dragon fruit plantation in Village of Pasiran were orange spots sulur (Fusarium sp), anthracnose (Colletotrichum sp.), brown spots (Gleosporium sp.), orange berries (Alternaria sp.), and blight redness (Rhizoctonia solani).

Abstract

Dragon fruit is a cactus plant that originates from Mexico. Dragon fruit began to enter and be recognized in Indonesia in the early 2000s. This Thai-imported plant then rapidly developed in Indonesia. Serdang Bedagai Regency is one of the producers of dragon fruit in North Sumatra province. The dragon fruit cultivation area uses a polyculture planting system because it is situated among other types of cultivated plants. The use of a polyculture planting system by farmers can affect the diversity of arthropods in a cultivation area. The diversity of arthropods is believed to be usable as one of the bioindicators of the condition of an ecosystem. The purpose of this research is to determine the diversity of arthropods in dragon fruit plantations. The research methods used include direct observation, net traps, yellow traps, and pitfall traps. Insect identification was carried out using an insect identification book and the Naturalist application. The results of this study identified 7 orders, including Diptera, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera, Orthoptera, Coleoptera, Hemiptera, and Acarina. In this study, the diversity index value was found to be 1.77, which is classified as moderate, the arthropod richness index was 1.65, which is classified as low, and the arthropod evenness index was 0.72, which is classified as high.

Abstract

Environmental pollution in coastal areas, particularly due to the accumulation of solid and liquid waste, is an urgent issue globally and in Indonesia. Low public awareness and inadequate waste management facilities exacerbate this condition, as seen at Batu Gong Beach, South Konawe Regency. Previous studies indicate that plastic and organic waste are poorly managed, compounded by a lack of oversight. The objective of this community service activity is to enhance the understanding and awareness of the local community and visitors to Batu Gong Beach regarding plastic waste management and coastal pollution prevention, as well as to foster synergy among stakeholders for a clean, healthy, and sustainable coastal environment. The method used involved a site survey and fieldwork by 12 students from the Faculty of Public Health, Halu Oleo University, on May 29, 2025. The results showed that most of the waste at Batu Gong Beach originated from visitors and sea-borne debris, leading to ecosystem damage and reduced tourist appeal. Collaboration among the government, community, and visitors is crucial to provide waste facilities, conduct regular clean-ups, and raise environmental awareness to ensure the sustainability of Batu Gong Beach.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the effectiveness of family support on the career interest tendencies of students at SMAN 1 Palopo. This research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, where data is collected through in-depth interviews with twelfth-grade students. Holland's Career Theory is used as a theoretical foundation to understand the relationship between students' personalities and their career choices. The research results show that family support has a significant impact on students' self-confidence and motivation in determining their career paths. Some students, like FFR, receive positive support from their families, which encourages them to pursue careers aligned with their personal interests, while students like FF face pressure from their families to choose careers that are considered safer. This research also found that schools play an important role in providing career counseling services, which help students explore their interests. In conclusion, cooperation between families, schools, and students is very important in the career decision-making process, where constructive family support can enhance students' confidence, while excessive pressure can lead to confusion and dissatisfaction.
