Abstract

Mental health is a crucial aspect in developing individuals who are emotionally, psychologically, and socially healthy, especially during adolescence, a vulnerable period for mental disorders. Pesantren, as boarding-based educational institutions, face high stress levels, compounded by low mental health literacy and social stigma that hinder help-seeking behavior. Based on initial screening at Pesantren Baitul Arqam Sibreh, most santri showed limited understanding of mental health and emotional management skills. This community service was conducted through an educational workshop using a participatory learning approach for 32 santri. Activities included a pre-test, interactive material delivery, educational games, and a post-test. Evaluation results indicated improved understanding and positive attitudes toward mental health, with 85% of participants showing significant change. This activity effectively increased mental health literacy and encouraged openness and help-seeking. In conclusion, the socialization plays an important role in creating a more supportive pesantren environment and serves as a foundation for further programs promoting and preventing mental health issues among santri. Keywords: mental health, mental health literacy, santri, pesantren, mental health promotion

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan karakter anak di Lembaga Pembinaan Khusus Anak (LPKA) Banda Aceh dengan memanfaatkan kisah inspiratif tokoh ilmuwan Islam melalui pelatihan interaktif. Peserta, terdiri dari 38 Anak Binaan Pemasyarakatan (ABP), membutuhkan figur teladan dan penguatan keterampilan komunikasi untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan diri serta internalisasi nilai-nilai positif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 8-9 Januari 2025 dengan metode ceramah partisipatif, diskusi kelompok, dan evaluasi menggunakan kuesioner pre-test dan post-test. Materi mencakup tujuh tokoh ilmuwan Islam, seperti Ibnu Sina, Al-Khawarizmi, AlFarabi, Ibnu Khaldun, Al-Biruni, Al-Haytham, dan Jabir Ibnu Hayyan yang menonjolkan dedikasi ilmiah dan integritas moral. Hasil menunjukkan 85% peserta mampu mengidentifikasi minimal tiga tokoh beserta kontribusinya, disertai peningkatan kesadaran nilai-nilai seperti kerja keras dan kejujuran. Selain itu, 70% peserta mengalami kemajuan dalam kemampuan public speaking. Program ini membuktikan efektivitas pendekatan naratif-interaktif dalam pengembangan karakter anak LPKA. Untuk keberlanjutan, disarankan pendampingan lanjutan dan pengayaan metode pembelajaran berbasis praktik.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of gadget addiction on adolescent mental health, focusing on real-world and virtual interactions. A qualitative case study approach involved two male adolescents aged 16–18 years who experienced symptoms of gadget addiction and two parents as supporting informants. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, then thematically analyzed to identify usage patterns, psychological impacts, and contributing factors to dependency. Results indicate that respondents used gadgets 10–14 hours per day for online gaming and social media, primarily as an escape from family problems and academic pressures. Impacts include social anxiety, decreased emotional regulation, sleep disturbances, and identity dissociation. Environmental factors such as family conflict, lack of supervision, and addictive technology design exacerbate the condition. The findings confirm that excessive gadget use reduces real-world social interactions and hinders psychosocial development through avoidance coping and the search for digital validation. The study recommends holistic interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotional digital literacy, and family environmental modifications, with implications for school-based prevention programs and more responsible technology design policies.

Abstract

Mahasiswa tingkat akhir sering mengalami tekanan akademik yang tinggi selama proses penyusunan skripsi, yang dapat menimbulkan stres dan memicu breakout (jerawat) sebagai respons fisiologis terhadap tekanan psikologis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami persepsi mahasiswa perempuan terhadap stres dan breakout selama penyusunan skripsi serta makna subjektif yang mereka berikan terhadap pengalaman tersebut. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologis, melibatkan 3 mahasiswa perempuan tingkat akhir Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Muhammadiyah Aceh. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam semi terstruktur dan observasi nonpartisipan, lalu dianalisis berdasarkan tema yang muncul. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa stres akademik dialami sebagai tekanan psikologis kompleks yang berkontribusi terhadap munculnya breakout. Kondisi tersebut menciptakan siklus negatif antara stres dan penurunan kepercayaan diri. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya dukungan psikologis dan fisik bagi mahasiswa perempuan tingkat akhir.
