Abstract

This study investigates the influence of social media on public awareness of halal certification among residents of Kampung Laut, Kuala Jambi. As halal certification becomes increasingly important in Indonesia’s growing halal industry, understanding the role of digital platforms in shaping public knowledge and perception is crucial. The research aims to analyze the extent to which exposure to halal-related content on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube affects individuals’ awareness and attitudes toward halal certification. A quantitative approach was employed using a structured survey distributed to active social media users within the target population. The findings reveal a positive and statistically significant relationship between the frequency of social media use and the level of halal awareness. Respondents who frequently engage with halal content tend to show higher levels of understanding and trust toward certified products. These results are interpreted through the lenses of the Uses and Gratifications Theory, the Theory of Planned Behavior, and the Diffusion of Innovation Theory, which together provide a multidimensional framework for understanding the behavioral, motivational, and communicative aspects of halal awareness. This study contributes to the academic discourse by extending halal communication research into coastal, digitally underserved communities, and offers practical implications for policymakers, halal authorities, and content creators seeking to strengthen public engagement with halal principles through social media channels.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a strategic role in fostering students’ religious character from an early age, particularly at the elementary level, which serves as a crucial foundation for children’s moral and spiritual development. Amid the challenges of globalization and the declining influence of religious values within family environments, the effectiveness of IRE implementation in instilling Islamic values has become an essential issue for in-depth investigation. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of IRE in shaping the religious character of elementary school students and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing the process. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological strategy, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving IRE teachers, students, school principals, and parents, and then analyzed thematically using triangulation techniques. The findings reveal that the effectiveness of IRE is strongly influenced by teachers’ exemplary behavior, the habituation of religious practices within the school environment, and family involvement, although challenges remain regarding instructional methods and the continuity of religious values outside the school setting. This study contributes to the development of a more integrative and contextual Islamic character education practice and offers direction for strengthening collaboration among schools, families, and communities in nurturing religiously devoted young generations from an early age.

Abstract

Islamic banks operate based on Sharia principles that prohibit riba, gharar, and maysir, promoting a profit-and-loss sharing (PLS) model through Mudharabah and Musyarakah contracts. These contracts embody ideals of fairness and partnership, positioning the bank as a capital provider (shahibul maal) in Mudharabah, and as an equal partner in Musyarakah. However, despite their theoretical advantages, PLS-based financing faces substantial risks in practice, including moral hazard, information asymmetry, and limited monitoring capacity. This study aims to identify the main risks associated with these contracts, evaluate risk management approaches, and compare mitigation strategies across both financing schemes. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, the study collected, filtered, and synthesized scholarly publications from 2013 to 2023 sourced from Google Scholar, SINTA, DOAJ, OJK, and BI databases. The thematic analysis reveals recurring issues in governance, supervision, and policy alignment, while also outlining best practices and technological innovations for mitigating risk. This article contributes to both the theoretical understanding and practical application of risk management in Islamic finance by offering comprehensive insights for academic development, industry practices, and regulatory frameworks aimed at enhancing the sustainability and distinctiveness of Islamic banking through optimized equity-based financing models.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of character education among Generation Z, analyze the challenges of globalization that influence their character development, and formulate strategies for strengthening character education in the digital era. As digital natives, Generation Z faces both opportunities and risks from the flow of technology, information, and global culture, which may weaken identity and local values if not balanced by strong character education. This research employed a qualitative descriptive case study approach. Primary data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, while secondary data were obtained from curriculum documents and related literature. Data were analyzed with triangulation of sources and techniques to ensure validity. The findings reveal four main points: schools have integrated character education into their curricula and activities, globalization and digital culture pose significant challenges, a gap exists between moral knowledge and students’ actions, and strategies remain focused on religious and academic aspects with limited emphasis on local cultural values. The study concludes that character education for Generation Z requires innovative, contextual, and collaborative strategies that integrate technology, local values, and religious principles.
