Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of mosaic activities on the fine motor development of children at AL-HIKMAH Kindergarten. Fine motor skills involve the coordination of small muscles, particularly in the hands and fingers, which are essential for daily activities such as writing, drawing, and handling objects. This research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach. Data were collected using activity sheets completed by the children during the mosaic sessions. The data were analyzed using a t-test, which showed a significant difference after the mosaic activities were implemented. Children who participated in the mosaic activities demonstrated greater improvement in fine motor skills compared to those who did not. These results indicate that mosaic activities have a positive impact on the fine motor development of kindergarten-aged children. The findings are expected to serve as a useful reference for teachers and early childhood education practitioners in designing learning activities that support children's motor skill development

Abstract

Physical development in early childhood plays a crucial role in supporting both gross and fine motor skills. Various physical activities can attract children's interest, encourage them to be more active, enhance their social abilities, and instill healthy habits. This study aims to examine children's physical development through gymnastic activities and a tie-dye (batik lipat) project. The research applied a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through participant observation, documentation, interviews, and direct observation. The findings indicate that gymnastics can improve children’s gross motor skills, while tie-dye activities, involving tasks such as folding, tying, and coloring, contribute to fine motor development. Additionally, active participation in these activities positively affects children’s self-confidence and discipline. The study concludes that combining physical and creative activities provides optimal benefits for early childhood physical growth.

Abstract

Inclusive education aims to ensure that all students, including those with special needs, have equal opportunities to learn in a normal classroom environment. However, there are still some challenges to overcome in implementing it at the primary education level. The most important thing is a learning strategy that can accommodate the diverse characteristics of students. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the collaborative learning role in supporting inclusive education in elementary schools, specifically in terms of improving student learning outcomes and social interaction. A qualitative descriptive approach was used in this study. Data was collected from books, scientific journals, and relevant academic sources on inclusive education and cooperative learning strategies. The results show that cooperative learning strategies such as Jigsaw, Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS), STAD, and Think-Pair Share are effective in promoting participation, cooperation, and positive social interaction in inclusive classrooms. Cooperative Learning remains a relevant and effective approach if supported by proper planning and teacher ability. However, there are issues such as a lack of learning time and teacher readiness to manage the classroom. Therefore, cooperative learning can be considered a beneficial strategy for creating an inclusive, collaborative, and equitable learning environment in elementary schools.
