Abstract

This research examined speech act modes in the thesis examinations of students in Indonesian Language and Literature Education at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Merangin. This research used a qualitative descriptive research design. The data obtained in this research consisted of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences during the thesis examination. Data analysis was conducted using a content analysis method that focused on the quality of meaning in the context of direct and indirect speech acts. The direct and indirect speech act modes in the examination process conducted by the examiners and students were found to be as follows:1) Declarative mode, including for managing speaking turns, opening the exam, informing, ordering, and so on; 2) Interrogative mode, aimed at asking, ordering, refuting, investigating, clarifying, and so on; 3) Imperative mode, used for ordering, prohibiting, arguing, expressing gratitude, apologizing, and so on. In-depth research in pragmatic studies is necessary to inform the development of thesis course learning plans and the implementation of thesis examinations.

Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum requires learning that develops students' critical, creative, and reflective thinking skills, one of which is through a deep learning approach. This study aims to systematically analyze the application of deep learning in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools through a literature review. The study employed a qualitative approach with a literature review design of relevant and reputable journal articles, proceedings, and scientific publications. Data were collected through documentation studies and analyzed using content analysis and thematic analysis techniques. The results indicate that deep learning can increase student active engagement, critical thinking skills, and the quality of meaningful and contextual learning through the application of project-based strategies, problem-solving, and reflection. Successful implementation is influenced by teachers' pedagogical competence, school environmental support, and the availability of learning resources. While the main obstacles include limited teacher understanding and disparities in facilities. This study concludes that optimizing deep learning requires strengthening teacher capacity and ongoing support from the education system for effective implementation of the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum is a new policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) designed to improve the quality of learning through flexibility, simplified materials, and a focus on developing student character and competencies. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at SD Negeri 043/VII Karang Mendapo II, including supporting and inhibiting factors, and the impact of its implementation on the learning process. The study used a qualitative case study approach, with data sources including the principal, teachers, students, and learning documents. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data were then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results indicate that the Independent Curriculum has been implemented in stages and is supported by the readiness of school management and teachers' willingness to adapt. The impact is evident in increased student participation, more contextual learning, and teachers' role as facilitators. However, several obstacles were identified, such as varying teacher abilities in understanding teaching materials, limited collaboration within learning communities, and the suboptimal use of innovative learning media to support differentiated learning. The study recommends increased systematic training, ongoing mentoring, and optimized use of the Merdeka Mengajar digital platform.

Abstract

The low level of comprehensive reading skills among college students requires a transformation toward student-centered learning. This study aims to determine and describe the improvement of students' comprehensive reading skills in the Comprehensive Reading course at Universitas Merangin through the application of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis & McTaggart model, consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research subjects were one class of students enrolling in the Comprehensive Reading course. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests, observation sheets of lecturer and student activities, and project product assessment rubrics. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively with a success indicator of 80% of students achieving the minimum criteria. The findings indicate that the implementation of PjBL significantly improves comprehensive reading skills across literal, inferential, critical, and creative levels. The requirement to create research-based products forces students to actively analyze and synthesize information. This study implies that PjBL can be utilized as an innovative and effective learning model for reading courses in higher education.
