Abstract

This research analyzed about imagery and moral values in three poems of Poems for Palestine by Palestinian Poets. The purposes of this research are to describe the kinds of imagery and the kind of moral values in three poems of “Poems for Palestine by Palestinian Poets”. In this research, the writer used the descriptive qualitative method which was proposed by Strauss and Corbin (1998:11). They state that qualitative research is achieved not by means of quantification or statistical technique to analysis the data. The data is analyzed through some ways: identifying, classifying, analyzing and making conclusion. In this reasearch, the writer used theory of imagery by Perrine (1992) and theory of moral values by Hornby (2010). The result of this research are the writer found about 17 imagery data and followed by 17 data of moral values of the research. All of the data analyzed in those three poems of Poems for Palestine by Palestinian Poets.The 17 data of imagery that the writer found in those three Poems for Palestine by Palestinian Poets, the visual imagery is the dominant imagery in the poems. It is because of the authors really want the world pay attention the condition of the Palestine today. The displacement and destruction of Palestine is seen by many as a deliberate attempt to erase the Palestinian presence and identity from the region. The loss of land and the ongoing displacement of Palestinians are become the first target of Israel and allies. 17 data of moral values that found in poems dominated by 10 data of sympathetic to others. Being sympathetic to others in the poem means feeling and showing understanding and concern for Palestine suffering or misfortune. It involves recognizing and caring for the Palestinian feelings, even if you haven't experienced the same situation

Abstract

Penelitian ini  bertujuan untuk menjelaskan beberapa bentuk ungkapan, makna, dan nilai yang ditemukan dalam ungkapan-ungkapan idiomatis bahasa Melayu Jambi dialek Melayu Bungo. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap,  yaitu tahap pengumpulan data, analisis data, dan penyajian hasil analisis data. Metode yang dipilih dalam pengumpulan data adalah metode simak dan cakap dengan beberapa teknik pendukung diantaranya teknik simak bebas libat cakap, teknik catat, teknik pancing, dan teknik rekam. Pada tahap analisis penulis menggunakan pendekatan  deskriptif kualitatif dengan berpijak dari metode analisis kontekstual dalam menjelaskan makna dari  nilai budaya yang dimaksud dari ungkapan-ungkapan idiomatis tersebut. Selanjutnya, pada tahap penyajian hasil analisis, penulis memilih   menggunakan metode informal. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa dalam ungkapan idiomatis  bahasa Melayu Jambi dialek Melayu Bungo mengandung nilai-nilai budaya yang telah lama berkembang di tengah-tengah masyarakat penutur bahasa Melayu Jambi dialek Melayu Bungo. Adapun nilai-nilai budaya tersebut secara prinsip mencerminkan sikap atau pandangan hidup  dari masyarakat penutur bahasa Melayu Jambi dialek Melayu Bungo  yang dikategorikan baik maupun tidak baik. Selain itu,  ungkapan-ungkapan idiomatis yang digunakan oleh  masyarakat Melayu Jambi dialek Melayu Bungo juga  mengandung ajaran etika, moral, dan sopan santun

Abstract

This research clarifies about the kinds of methapors that found in the” seloko Adat” traditional ceremonies in merangin culture This research applied descriptive qualitative research in which the data are obtained from seloko adat in traditional ceremony. it took from Lubuk Bumbun village in Merangin regency. The data are collected by observational method supported by note-taking and interview technique. After analyzing the data, it is found that there are 10 metaphors included into three from four kinds of methapor. The result of the research showed there are animistic, synaesthetic and concret to abstreact of methapor. Animistic metaphor dominant exist in seloko adat traditional ceremonies on Merangin culture .The meaning of each metaphor is understood in light of the current situation.

Abstract

This research investigates linguistic impoliteness used in Tanjung Agung Traditional Market through the examination of impoliteness strategies proposed by Jonathan Culpeper. It examines how impoliteness are used on the traditional market of Tanjung Agung Village. The research uses descriptive qualitative method. First, The writer found that people in the market sometime use impoliteness strategis in daily life, usually can be in the Market. It can be happen between the buyers and sellers conversation to express the negative attitude in the Traditional market. Second, the writers found that four out of the impoliteness in Tanjung Agung Traditional Market

Abstract

This research analyzes the impoliteness strategies used by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit through WhatsApp text messages and how the strategies function in delivering the impoliteness between the customers and the employees of Home Credit. The purposes of this research are (1) to identify the types of impoliteness strategies used by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit; (2) to analyze the functions of impoliteness strategies aimed by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit.. The research also applied descriptive qualitative method, with the customers’ WhatsApp text messages as the source of the data.The result of this research shows that, (1) there are 19 data of impoliteness strategies found in the WhatsApp text messages from customers’ of Muara Bungo Home Credit, which are sarcasm/mock politeness (4 data), positive impoliteness (3 data), negative impoliteness (6 data) and bald on record impoliteness (6 data) which occurred the most in the research; (2) all 19 data of impoliteness strategies used by the customers had different functions, which are affective (7 data), entertaining (4 data) and coercive (8 data), which is the most applied function in the research.

Abstract

In this research the writer analyzed the figurative language in Raef Haggag songslyric on the Mercy album that consist to four song there are Trust, Mercy, All About Me,and More Than Me And You. The purpose of the research to find the kind of figurativelanguage and messages in Raef Haggag’s songs. The method of the research uses qualitative method. To analyzing the data the writer use library research. The first step the writer read the Raef Haggag Song’s lyrics several times and understanding the text lyric. The second find out the important data and selected the data that can analysis. The last step write down or making a note about the data. The result of this research thewriter found six kinds of figurative language thereare: Hyperbole, Metaphor, Symbol, Personification, Paradox, and Simile. The datum thatthe writer found from four song lyrics are twenty. In this research the writer also found the messages in the songs lyric by Raef Haggag like struggle, never give up, patients andthankfully.

Abstract

This research analyzes about Syntactic Acquisition of three years old child at Al-Inayah Islamic Boarding School, in Jambi Province, Tebo Regency, Rimbo Bujang sub district, at Perintis village. The purposes of this research are (1) to describe types of sentences produced by a three years old child named Ahmad Dzaky Al-Farisi (2) to find out factors that affected child in obtaining his first language acquisition on three years old named child Ahmad Dzaky Al-Farisi at Al-Inayah Islamic Boarding School in perintis village, Rimbo Bujang Sub-district, Tebo Regency, Jambi province.In this research, the writer applied descriptive qualitative method theory by Moleong (2006:6) and the writer uses Participant Observational Method (SLC) to collecting the data. The data were analyzed by using referential method and distributional method, the writer also uses an informal and formal method to represent the results of the analysis.The result of the research reveals some findings showed that the child produced four types of sentences, they are: (1) Statement, (2) Imperative Sentences, (3) Interrogative Sentences, (4) Exclamation Sentences. Based on the 15 data found in this research, the writer found 9 data of interrogative sentences, 1 data of imperative sentence, 2 data of statements, and 3 data of exclamation sentences. The most dominant type of Sentence produced on three years old child by Ahmad Dzaky Al-Farisi at Al-Inayah Islamic Boarding School especially in Perintis village, Rimbo Bujang Sub-district, Tebo Regency, Jambi Province is Interrogative sentences, the types of sentence is supported by Eastwood's theory (1994:15).Based on this research, the writer found out the factor that affected child in obtaining the first language acquisition on three years old child named Ahmad Dzaky Al-Farisi. The results of this research also show that the factor affected the first language acquisition of this child's language is Language Acquisition Devices that have innate abilities from birth which are then honed in the form of always being invited to communicate with parents, imitating other people, the mother always provides stimulation in the form of words, phrases or sentences. Based on this research, the writer formulates the factor that affected in obtaining the first language acquisition on three years old child from Ahmad Dzaky Al-Farisi is natural factor supported by Chomsky's theory (1965:222).

Abstract

This research analyzes turn-taking strategies used in Brownis talk show. The objectives of this research are (1) to identify the kinds of turn-taking strategies used by the hosts and the guest in Brownis talk show and (2) to analyze the functions of turn-taking strategies used by the hosts and the guest in Brownis talk show. The analysis is based on the theory by Sacks and Schegloff (1979) on Turn-Taking. The research applied descriptive qualitative method, which uses words to explain the data obtained from the talk show. Tables and figures are also used to present the results and to make it easier for readers to understand.
