Abstract

Kamal Muara Sub-district, Penjaringan District, located in the coastal area of North Jakarta, is a community with a heterogeneous population in terms of ethnicity, culture, and occupation. Most of the residents work as fishermen and factory workers. Various health and environmental issues such as low awareness of personal hygiene and healthy eating habits were problems faced by coastal residents. This activity aims to provide health education, improve nutrition, and raise environmental awareness through a social pharmacy practice program. The methods used in this program are observation and field practice. The students participated in activities such as education on safe drug use, healthy exercise sessions, creative healthy fish cooking, recycling workshops, proper handwashing and tooth brushing techniques, and environmental cleaning. The results of this study show that awareness and knowledge of the importance of health in the community increased through a series of educational programs. The program also successfully promoted collaboration and mutual cooperation among residents with significant support from community leaders and academia. The positive impact of this program is expected to last and become part of the daily habits of the community.

Abstract

Skin aging, which is influenced by intrinsic and extrinsic factors, can accelerate skin damage, with one of the main mechanisms being the glycation reaction that results in Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs). AGEs are the result of indirect reaction between reducing sugars and amino acids, lipids, or proteins. This reaction is also known as the glycation reaction or the Maillard reaction. This research aims to develop a peel-off mask based on gold nanoparticles synthesized with Kacip Fatima extract as an anti-aging agent. Gold nanoparticles have the potential to inhibit the formation of AGEs and improve skin quality. In this study, gold nanoparticles were synthesized by the green synthesis method using Kacip Fatima extract as a reducing agent. The method used for gold characterization is by measuring the wavelength and absorbance, polydispersity index, and zeta potential value of gold nanoparticles. The method used for antiglycation is by using microplate reader, which is stored for 3 days and tested with excitation wavelength of 365 nm and emission wavelength of 415-445 nm. The characterization results showed that the gold nanoparticles had an average size of about 79.61 nm at week 0 and increased to 101.1 nm at week 9. Glycation testing revealed that masks with 20% gold nanoparticles inhibited glycation by up to 95%, higher than the concentration of 10%. This study successfully synthesized gold nanoparticles using Kacip Fatimah extract as a reducing agent, with particles ranging from 79.61 nm to 101.1 nm over 9 weeks. The nanoparticles showed antiglycation effects, with 10% nanoparticles inhibiting glycation by 78%, suggesting potential for environmentally friendly cosmetic applications like peel-off masks.

Abstract

The Baitul Maal Foundation of PLN (YBM PLN) Research Institute, located at Jl. PLN Duren Tiga no. 102, Pancoran, South Jakarta, has dozens of fostered families who are underprivileged families in the surrounding area. Scholarships for schoolchildren have been in place as a sort of guidance. Students fostered by YBM PLN require nutritional support to help them learn in school and strengthen their immune systems. As a result, community service and education activities that reinforce the concept of eating healthy and nutritious foods as part of a clean and healthy living behaviour (PHBS) are essential. As a result, there is a greater understanding and awareness of the need of proper nutrition for child development, particularly throughout the school years. Fulfilling family nutrition needs, beginning with nutritious and balanced home meals in combination with Indonesian herbs, will boost immunity, prevent disease, and promote students' learning activities.

Abstract

Gastrointestinal disorders are common in the community and are frequently managed through self-medication. Limited knowledge in distinguishing minor gastrointestinal complaints from warning signs may lead to inappropriate medication use or delays in seeking professional medical care. This community service program aimed to improve public knowledge, particularly among members of the Family Welfare Movement (PKK), Integrated Health Post (Posbindu) cadres, and other community representatives, regarding gastrointestinal diseases, preventive measures, treatment options, herbal approaches, and the recognition of warning signs through the GUT SMART (Gut Understanding and Training for Society) program. The program was conducted at RPTRA Kedoya Utara, West Jakarta, involving 31 female community health cadres. The intervention consisted of interactive educational sessions, distribution of educational booklets, and the use of a color-coded screening card based on green, yellow, and red zones. Knowledge was assessed using a 15-item questionnaire administered before and after the educational intervention, while participant characteristics and gastrointestinal health-related factors were collected through a structured questionnaire. The mean knowledge score increased from 12.97 ± 1.11 before the intervention to 14.16 ± 0.78 after the intervention, with a mean improvement of 1.19 points. A total of 23 participants (74.2%) demonstrated improved scores, 6 participants (19.4%) showed no change, and 2 participants (6.5%) experienced a decrease in scores. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test knowledge scores (p < 0.001). Furthermore, 21 participants (67.7%) reported a history of gastrointestinal disorders, 16 participants (51.6%) experienced gastrointestinal symptoms during 2025–2026, and 24 participants (77.4%) reported practicing self-medication. The GUT SMART program has the potential to improve gastrointestinal health literacy and support safer initial decision-making regarding gastrointestinal complaints. Long-term evaluation is recommended to assess knowledge retention and the implementation of the screening card in daily practice.
