Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pendapat para pelaut tentang seberapa penting peran pendidikan terhadap kinerja pelaut jika ditinjau dari tingkat pendidikan dan status pernikahan pelaut itu sendiri. Sebagai subyek penelitian adalah 69 pelaut aktif yang sedang menempuh pendidikan di suatu politeknik. Hasil penelitian yang diolah dengan uji chi square menunjukkan bahwa jika ditinjau dari tingkat pendidikan para pelaut, mereka menyatakan bahwa pendidikan tidak berperan secara signifikan pada kinerjanya. Sebaliknya jika ditinjau dari status pernikahan, pelaut yang sudah menikah menilai bahwa pendidikan berperan penting sedangkan pelaut yang belum menikah menilai bahwa pendidikan tidak berperan signifikan terhadap kinerja pelaut.

Abstract

A good performance of seafarers is expected by any shipping company because it will bring benefits to the company itself. In order to get this performance, seafarers as one of the important assets must be managed properly by the company. One of them is the participation of seafarers to attend training for mutual safety. The purpose of this study was to analyse the effect of training on seafarers' performance. The sample in this study amounted to 100 seafarers who happened to be attending education in educational institution, which were selected using incidental sampling techniques. Research uses a training scale and a performance scale to measure seafarers' perceptions of training that has been conducted and performance as a result. Data were analysed using a simple regression test. Regression test results show that training has a positive and significant role on the performance of seafarers.

Abstract

Prokrastinasi merupakan penundaan yang irasional, ketika seseorang melakukan penundaan meskipun hal itu dapat menyebabkan keadaan menjadi lebih buruk (Steel, 2010). Penggunaan Internet bermasalah merupakan tingkat kenyamanan seseorang dalam menggunakan Internet dibandingkan dengan kehidupannya di dunia nyata. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji Temporal Motivation Theory (TMT) dengan menghubungkan penggunaan Internet bermasalah dan prokrastinasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi UBAYA yang mengambil mata kuliah PAU pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2011/ 2012 sebanyak 131 orang. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan beberapa skala, yaitu Pure Procrastination Scale (PPS), Online Cognition Scale (OCS), dan Steel Procrastination Scale (SPS). Pada penelitian ini ditemukan adanya korelasi positif antara prokrastinasi dan penggunaan Internet bermasalah (r = 0,370, p < 0,05). Variabel utama dalam korelasi itu berasal dari aspek distraction. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hubungan antara prokrastinasi dan penggunaan Internet bermasalah bukan dijembatani oleh aspek expectancy, value, dan sensitivity to delay.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between competence and work environment with safety behavior in seafarers at PT. ASDP Surabaya independently and simultaneously. Respondents were 41 seafarers at PT. ASDP Surabaya, taken using incidental sampling technique. The data were analyzed using multiple correlation and product moment techniques. The results of the study show that there is a relationship between competence, work environment, and safety behavior in seafarers at PT. ASDP Surabaya and the direction of the relationship is positive. The results showed that the level of safety behavior among seafarers at PT. ASDP Surabaya was in the moderate category.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of organizational climate on work stress on employees of PT. PAL Indonesia (Persero) Indonesia General Engineering Division, this study used a quantitative approach with survey methods and used simple linear regression analysis techniques. Data collection used a work stress scale of as much as 38 Items, and the Organizational Climate Scale of 42 Items. The number of subjects in this study were 75 employees of PT. PAL Indonesia (Persero) Surabaya General Engineering Division. The sampling technique in this study used Accidential Sampling. Finding in this study showed that Organizational Climate affects Work Stress at PT. PAL Indonesia (Persero) Surabaya General Engineering Division. The results showed that the level of work stress owned by employees of PT. PAL Indonesia (Persero) Surabaya General Engineering Division was in the low category.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of job involvement and personality on the safety performance of Indonesia Navy Ship Crew. This study uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study amounted to 95. The sampling technique in this study was stratified random sampling. Based on the results of data analysis that has been carried out on the major hypothesis testing, the significance value in the anova table is 0.000 is less than 0.05, so it can be concluded that job involvement and personality jointly affect the safety performance of Indonesia Navy Ship Crew. In the results of the major hypothesis test, it was also found that the R Square value was 0.185, so it can be concluded that the effect of the job involvement and personality variables together on the safety performance of the crew of the Indonesia Navy Ship Crew is 18.5%. In the results of the minor hypothesis test, it was found that the effective contribution of job involvement to safety performance was 10.1% and the effective contribution of personality to safety performance was 17.8%, while the remaining 82.2% was influenced by other variables not included in the study.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether workload and emotional intelligence are factors that can affect the work life balance of seafarers on cargo ships. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is an effect of workload and emotional intelligence together on the work life balance of seafarers on cargo ships. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. This study uses multiple linear regression analysis. The number of subjects in this study were 73 respondents who were sailors on a sea toll ship (cargo) owned by PT PELNI (Persero) Surabaya Branch. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling technique and data collection technique with 3 (three) scales, namely workload, emotional intelligence, and work life balance. The results of hypothesis testing on workload and emotional intelligence together are predictors of work life balance on seafarers on cargo ships.

Abstract

AbstractAcademic procrastination can cause several disadvantages to students. One of the effects of academic procrastination on students is the decrease of student performance. This study aims to determine academic procrastination os Surabaya coastal students. This study involved 194 private junior high school students un coastal area of Surabaya. Measurement in this study was using the academic procrastination scale compiled by researchers based on Ferraro’s theory. The academic procrastination scale has 15 valid items and the Cronbach alpha coefficient of the scale is 0.848. Data Analiysis was performed using descriptive statistical techniques. The result showed that most of the coastall students showed moderate academic procrastination. The aspect of academic procrastination that arose the most from the respondents were the aspect of delaying starting to work on assignments and doing other activities while doing the task.  Keywords:  Academic Procrastination, Coastal Students Abstrak Prokrastinasi akademik dapat menimbulkan beberapa kerugian pada siswa. Salah satu dampak prokrastinasi akademik pada siswa adalah menurunnya performa akademik siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prokrastinasi akademik siswa pesisir Surabaya. Penelitian ini melibatkan 194 siswa SMP swasta di daerah pesisir Surabaya. Pengukuran dilakukan menggunakan skala prokrastinasi akademik yang disusun oleh peneliti berdasarkan teori dari Ferrari. Skala prokrastinasi akademik memiliki 15 aitem valid dengan nilai koefisien cronbach alpha sebesar 0,848. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa pesisir menunjukkan prokrastinasi akademik dalam kategori sedang. Aspek prokrastinasi akademik yang paling banyak muncul dari responden adalah aspek menunda memulai mengerjakan tugas dan melakukan aktivitas lain dalam pengerjaan tugas. Kata Kunci: Prokrastinasi Akademik, Siswa Pesisir

Abstract

The importance of having employee engagement is when employees are bound to form positive emotional relationships with the company, it will affect employees' attitude toward clients, so it will give benefits to the company because it can improve the services provided and customer satisfaction obtained. This research aims to examine the effect of team and co-worker relationships and career development on employee engagement. Data collection of as many as 84 employees, using an incidental sampling technique. The measuring instruments used are the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) which has been modified, the Team and Co-worker Scale, and the Career Development Scale. The results show there are influence between team and co-worker relationships and career development on employee engagement together or partially in back office employees. Team and co-worker relationships are important external factors because mutually supportive interpersonal relationships can lead to high employee engagement. After all, they are built based on harmonious relationships. Likewise, career development is also an important external factor because if employees are provided with adequate development programs, they have the potential to engage by work role and organization. This research can be a recommendation for companies to make strategies to increase employee engagement especially involving team and co-worker relationships and career development factors.

Abstract

Kedisiplinan memiliki peran penting dalam pendidikan dan mempengaruhi proses belajar mengajar di sekolah. Di SD Negeri Sukolilo 250 Surabaya, ditemukan masalah rendahnya kedisiplinan siswa kelas III, terutama dalam hal ketepatan waktu, banyaknya siswa terlambat masuk kelas hingga mengganggu efektivitas pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan penerapan teknik modifikasi perilaku menggunakan sistem token ekonomi yang telah terbukti efektif dalam memotivasi perubahan perilaku. Dalam program ini, siswa yang datang tepat waktu diberikan stempel sebagai penghargaan yang dapat ditukarkan dengan hadiah, seperti alat tulis dan es krim. Program yang melibatkan 28 siswa kelas III ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kedisiplinan mereka dalam ketepatan waktu dan dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap mulai dari persiapan hingga evaluasi. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kedisiplinan yang signifikan dan diharapkan dapat memberikan manfaat bagi siswa, penulis, dan lembaga pendidikan.
