Abstract

The research problem is whether the technical aspects of raising buffalo livestock in West Aceh Regency have been implemented properly and correctly in accordance with the DITJENNAK guidelinesof 1992by buffalo breeders in West Aceh Regency.This research aims to examine theimplementation oftechnical aspects of local buffalo rearing in West Aceh Regency. The research locations covered 25 villages(5 villageseach district), namelyin5 villages Johan Pahlawan,Mereubo,Kaway XVI and Samatiga District. This study used a survey method of 100 buffalo breeders using a questionnaire.The parameters were1)aspects of breeding and reproduction,2)food, maintenance management,3)health,4)cages and equipment. The sampling technique is random and the number of samples is determined deliberately taking into consideration the breeders who are willing to be interviewed. The data obtained is processed by calculating the percentage score and then compared with the categories set by the Directorate General of Livestock (1992). The results showed that the implementation of the technical aspects of raising buffalorearingin West Aceh District was 41.71%,including the application of technical aspects of breeding and reproduction 57.72%, aspects of food13.74%,aspects of maintenance management 38.58%, health aspects 67.27%, cage and equipment aspects 52.09%. It can be concluded that the implementation of technical aspects of buffalo farming in West Aceh Regency is poor category with the guidelines of the Directorate General of Livestock (1992). From these results it is recommended that the technical aspects of buffalo rearing in West Aceh Regency should be improved in the future.

Abstract

Kerbau Gayo menjadi sumber daya ternak lokal Aceh yang harus dilindungi, dilestarikan dan dimanfaatkan secara berkelanjutan dengan dilaksanakan aspek pemeliharaan yang sesuai dengan ketetapan Direktorat Jenderal Peternakan (1992) tentang aspek teknis pemeliharaan ternak kerbau. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aspek teknis pemeliharaan kerbau Gayo di Kabupaten Bener Meriah berdasarkan ketetapan Direktorat Jenderal Peternakan (1992). Penelitian ini telah dilakukan pada tanggal 1 Agustus 2022 sampai dengan 31 Agustus 2022 di Kabupaten Bener Meriah yang meliputi Kecamatan Bukit dan Kecamatan Mesidah. Pemilihan daerah penelitian karena tempatnya berjauhan, kepadatan penduduk dan jumlah ternak. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei dengan pengamatan langsung di lapangan, berdasarkan kuesioner yang telah disiapkan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan rata-rata, frekuensi dan persentase dengan bantuan perangkat lunak Mircrosoft Excel. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aspek teknis pemeliharaan kerbau Gayo di Kabupaten Bener Meriah sebesar 58% belum sesuai dengan ketetapan Direktorat Jenderal Peternakan tahun 1992 dengan rincian nilai rataan aspek pemuliaan dan reproduksi 226,67 (65%), nilai rataan aspek makanan 107,58 (36%), nilai rataan tatalaksana pemeliharaan 118,14 (68%), nilai rataan kesehatan 76,53 (77%), serta nilai rataan kandang dan perlengkapan 48,28 (64%).

Abstract

b-districts, Beutong and Seunagan, with 45 buffalo samples from each sub-district. The survey method with random buffalo sampling was employed in this study. The selection of the two research sub-districts was based on the highest buffalo population numbers in Nagan Raya District. The research locations were chosen from six villages: Babah Krueng, Gunong Nagan, Blang Seunong, Sapek, Alue Dodok, and Blang Pateuk. Primary data were obtained from measuring several quantitative traits of buffaloes aged 2.5-3.0 years in the field. All data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The research results show that the quantitative traits based on the coefficient of variation (CV) of body measurements of buffaloes in Nagan Raya vary considerably. The body measurements of male buffaloes in Beutong Sub-District showed chest circumference, shoulder height, and body length of 172.70 cm, 121.84 cm, and 111.48 cm, respectively, while the female buffalo's chest circumference, shoulder height, and body length were 180.86 cm, 122.18 cm, and 119.32 cm, respectively. The body measurements of male buffaloes in Seunagan Sub-District showed chest circumference, shoulder height, and body length of 169.23 cm, 115.91 cm, and 105.23 cm, respectively, while the female buffalo's chest circumference, shoulder height, and body length were 187.89 cm, 123.04 cm, and 117.39 cm, respectively. The qualitative and quantitative traits of buffaloes measured in these two subdistricts show differences due to different environmental vegetation.
