Abstract

Agroforestry system has been considered as one of the effective ways of the plantation for increasing a production and securing the environment as well as plays an important role in the social and economic development. Mindi development has been widely practiced in community forests but the agroforestry system is only limited to local knowledge obtained from old generation. This causes the people's forests to tend to be unable to survive due to the demands of the people's food needs. Arrowroot (Maranta arundinacea L.) had an important crop as a potential source of food and substitute for wheat flour and potential to be planted under Mindi trees (Melia azedarach L.) which had also potential as an alternative tree planting for the community forest. This research was aimed to 1) analyze the growth of Mindi trees and the productivity of arrowroot under mindi trees compared to monoculture system, 2) analyze the nutrient content of arrowroot under mindi trees compared to monoculture system. The experiment used a complete randomized design (CRD) with the agroforest under mindi trees and monoculture system as a factor. The result of growth in mindi showed that there is no significant difference in height, diameter, and canopy variable in agroforestry and monoculture plantation system while the root variable had significant difference among agroforestry and monoculture system. The physicochemical and nutrients content of arrowroot were diverse whereas there is no significant difference between the two system tested. Keywords: agroforestry, growth, productivity, fisikokimia, soil nutrient

Abstract

There are two types of forest products used by the community, namely wood forest products (HHK) and non-timber forest products (HHBK). Most people use wood forest products because they have a very good selling price. In general, there are three uses for wood, namely: as a basic material for making pulp, building materials and craft materials. Various non-timber forest products also make a big contribution to human life, including: rattan, bamboo, sago, agarwood, pine resin, resin, eucalyptus oil, honey and so on. Pine is one of the Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) which produces wood and sap. The sap from pine trees is in the form of a resinous acid liquid which can be further processed into gondorukem and turpentine which are useful in supporting the cosmetics, medicine and food industries. Pine resin is the result of tapping pine trees. Currently, many people are interested in pine sap tapping activities, including in Tetingi Village. Indirectly, this can be used as a source of income for communities around the forest area. This research aims to find out the level of income of the people in Tetingi Village, Pantan Weather District, Gayo Lues Regency and to find out how much Pine Sap contributes to the income of the people of Tetingi Village, Pantan Weather District, Gayo Lues Regency. Abstract

Akar laka plant is one of the non-timber forest products (NTFPs) that has promising prospects in trade. For some ethnic communities, the roots of akar laka plants that have been processed into flakes are used as incense used for certain religious worship. Akar laka plant is one type of liana, which is a vine that supports other plants until it reaches the crown of a tree of a certain height akar laka plants also contain resin, a sticky red oil obtained from distilling the roots of akar laka plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the spatial distribution of akar laka plants in the Pasie Raya forest area, Tuwi Peuriya Village, Pasie Raya District, Aceh Jaya Regency and to determine the quantity of akar laka plants found in the Pasie Raya forest area, Tuwi Peuriya Village, Pasie Raya District, Aceh Jaya Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive survey. Akar laka plant sampling uses a plot measuring 10 m x 10 m for adult levels and 5 m x 5 m for sapling levels to determine plot points using a purvosive sampling method. Data collection for the spatial distribution of akar laka plants uses GPS, after the coordinates are obtained, they will be processed using ArcGis 10.3 software. The results of this study found akar laka plants at the adult level 192 individuals and at the sapling level 70 individuals. Akar laka plants in the Pasie Raya forest area of Tuwie Peuriya Village are evenly distributed in each plot. The community around the Pasie Raya forest utilizes the roots of the akar laka plant to increase the community's economy, taking roots from akar laka plants carried out by the community usually in groups consisting of 2-5 people, the surrounding community usually gets 10-15 kg of harvest.
