Abstract

This study explores Islamic educational values in the tradition of charity for orphans during Muharram in Palembang City. The research aims to identify, analyse, and assess how these values are implemented and transmitted within the local community. This qualitative descriptive study involved purposive sampling of five mosques actively maintaining the tradition, employing data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. Findings reveal three primary value dimensions embedded in the tradition: faith-based values such as gratitude and divine accountability; social-moral values fostering compassion and dignity; and communal solidarity values reinforcing Islamic brotherhood and collective identity. The tradition operates as an effective informal educational platform, where participants internalize values through active engagement. The distinct participatory approaches notably facilitate confidence-building and sustained community integration. Conclusions emphasize the tradition’s role as a vital medium for moral, spiritual, and social education grounded in local culture. This research recommends strengthening informal community-based educational practices and incorporating intentional pedagogical elements into charitable programs. Policymakers should recognize informal religious education in access and quality assessments. Community leaders require pedagogical training to enhance educational effectiveness while preserving religious authenticity.

Abstract

Strengthening students’ character has become a major priority in modern education, requiring relevant and applicable value internalization models. This study is motivated by the limitations of previous research that tends to address character education in a general manner and the lack of studies integrating Imam Zarkasyi’s educational values within public senior high school contexts. This research aims to describe the forms of value internalization, analyze the implementation of spiritual programs, and evaluate the effectiveness of strategies applied at SMAN 1 Makarti Jaya. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Research informants include the principal, spiritual program supervisors, Islamic education teachers, and students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques based on the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal that the internalization of Imam Zarkasyi’s values is realized through structured religious habituation, teachers’ exemplary behavior as role models, and the strengthening of a school culture grounded in discipline and responsibility. These strategies have proven effective in enhancing students’ religiosity, integrity, and discipline, while also reinforcing a value-based and character-oriented school ecosystem.

Abstract

Era digital membawa tantangan besar bagi penelitian Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI), terutama terkait melimpahnya data dan risiko bias informasi. Dalam kondisi ini, validitas hasil penelitian menjadi krusial agar temuan riset tetap akurat dan objektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran vital statistika dalam memperkuat validitas instrumen dan hasil penelitian PAI di tengah dinamika digitalisasi. Artikel ini menggunakan metode studi pustaka (library research) dengan mengkaji berbagai literatur dari jurnal ilmiah, buku statistika pendidikan, dan sumber digital relevan lainnya yang diterbitkan dalam kurun waktu lima tahun terakhir. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik statistik, seperti uji validitas, reliabilitas, dan analisis inferensial, berfungsi sebagai filter ilmiah yang meminimalisir subjektivitas dalam pengukuran variabel keagamaan yang abstrak. Penggunaan perangkat lunak analisis data di era digital memungkinkan peneliti PAI untuk mengolah data besar (big data) dengan lebih presisi, transparan, dan akuntabel. Statistika bukan sekadar alat hitung, melainkan instrumen metodologis utama yang menjamin integritas dan kualitas ilmiah penelitian PAI. Penguasaan literasi data dan statistika menjadi kompetensi wajib bagi peneliti PAI untuk menghasilkan karya yang kredibel dan relevan di era digital.
