Abstract

The need to strengthen literacy in Indonesian language learning requires teachers to be innovative in designing assessment instruments that are relevant to current developments. One approach that can be used is the application of multimodal texts, namely texts that combine various communication modes such as writing, images, sound, and symbols to convey meaning more comprehensively. This community service program was carried out with the aim of improving the competence of Indonesian language teachers at the junior high school level throughout Sragen Regency in developing literacy questions based on multimodal texts that align with the demands of the Independent Curriculum. The activity was carried out through two months of intensive training and mentoring, which included a theoretical understanding of the concept of multimodal texts, analysis of sample questions, and practice in developing literacy-based assessment instruments. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in teachers' understanding of the principles of multimodal texts and their ability to design questions that challenge students' critical and creative thinking skills. Through this program, teachers not only gained new knowledge but also were motivated to be more adaptive to developments in digital media and innovation in learning. Thus, this activity contributed to improving the quality of Indonesian language learning that is contextual, interactive, and meaningful for students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the literary reception analysis of the monologue drama “Prodo Imitatito” by Arthur S. Nalan using a literary reception approach. Literary reception is a literary genre that examines literary texts by considering the reader as the giver of the response. This research refers to the understanding and assessment given by the audience to literary works. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method, which describes and describes the subject or object of a study that raises the facts found in the research studied. The data in this study are the answers (receptions) of the audience contained in the questionnaire list. The data source in this research is the questions contained in the research questionnaire. Informants/subjects of research are all individuals who are the source of data collection, in this case, students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program at Muhammadiyah Purworejo University. The monologue “Prodo Imitatio” tells the story of a middle-aged man who has been spoiled and lazy to study since childhood. After failing to get a bachelor's degree, he is ashamed and ends up running a business of buying and selling fake degrees at the fictitious institution “University of Zuzulapan” to fulfill his social ambitions. The results showed that this literary reception study succeeded in bringing the audience and readers into the storyline.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan berbagai bentuk kritik sosial yang ada dalam naskah drama “Manusia BBM (Benar-Benar Munafik)” karya Abdul Hamid dengan menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Pendekatan ini bersifat objektif dan ilmiah yang mempelajari manusia dalam konteks masyarakat, termasuk kehidupan sosial dan proses-proses sosial yang berlangsung di dalamnya. Drama ini menyajikan kritik sosial yang kuat terkait kondisi masyarakat yang terdampak kenaikan harga bahan bakar minyak (BBM). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan tujuan untuk menggambarkan, menganalisis, serta memahami masalah-masalah sosial yang tergambar lewat kritik sosial dalam karya tersebut. Data dikumpulkan melalui studi pustaka dan dianalisis secara mendalam menggunakan analisis isi. Kutipan-kutipan dari naskah yang mengandung kritik sosial menjadi fokus utama untuk menemukan makna dan pesan sosial yang ingin disampaikan. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa naskah drama ini bukan sekadar karya seni untuk dipentaskan, melainkan juga berperan sebagai media refleksi sosial yang menggambarkan berbagai masalah nyata yang terjadi dalam masyarakat.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of a deep learning-based learning model to improve the speaking skills of students at SMP Muhammadiyah Purworejo. This study uses research and development with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research location was at SMP Muhammadiyah Purworejo in the 2024/2025 Academic Year for class VIII students with a population selection of class VIII students. Meanwhile, the research sample with a purposive sampling technique was 30 students representing diverse speaking abilities. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, and observations. The test measures speaking skills, the questionnaire collects student responses, and the observation sheet observes the activities of teachers and students during the learning process. Interactive methods were used to analyze the data. The results showed an increase of 11.3 points in pretest data of 28.9 and posttest of 40.2. In addition, the questionnaire and observation showed that both teachers and students showed positive responses to the application of the deep learning model. Therefore, it can be concluded that students of Muhammadiyah Purworejo Middle School can acquire better speaking skills with this model.
