Abstract

This study aimed to develop an Arabic teaching module based on the Merdeka curriculum for grade IV of Asasalam Islamic Elementary School Bandar Lampung and to analyze educators’ and students’ responses to the teaching module. A teaching module is an important part of learning implementation. Moreover, the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum must also be harmonized with the existence of teaching module. However, Assalam Islamic Elementary School in Bandar Lampung, which has implemented the Merdeka curriculum, does not yet have a teaching module / teaching materials based on the Merdeka curriculum. The type of research employed in this study was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. Data collection involved conducting interviews with Arabic language subject teachers at Assalam Islamic Elementary School. The instruments utilized in this development included student questionnaires and product validation instruments. Data analysis techniques encompassed qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive methods. Qualitative descriptive analysis was utilized to process data from the review of material experts, media experts, and field practitioners' responses, including teachers and students. Quantitative descriptive analysis was derived from the results of product feasibility, represented in the form of product practicality. The validation results from media experts yielded an average value of 86%, while those from material experts showed an average value of 93%, categorized as very feasible. Furthermore, the average response from educators was 93%, falling into the attractive category. The responses from students in small group trials averaged 91%, whereas in field trials, the average was 83%. Based on the findings of this study, it is evident that the teaching module is highly engaging for use in the learning process. This research contributes to the development of Arabic teaching module based on the Merdeka curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of an integrated evaluation model in microteaching for Arabic Language Education students. The evaluation model combines peer assessment, video-based reflection, and lecturer feedback in a teach–review–reflect–reteach cycle. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with 32 sixth-semester students at Makassar State University as participants. Data were collected through observation, video recordings, written reflections, and interviews, then analyzed thematically. The results showed a significant improvement in nine basic teaching skills, with the average score rising from 73 to 86. The most notable improvements were seen in the skills of opening lessons, managing classrooms, and varying teaching strategies. It can be concluded that the integrated evaluation model is effective in improving the pedagogical competence of Arabic language students and is recommended to be widely adopted in the practical learning of prospective educators. The use of video technology and peer assessment is key to the success of a collaborative and sustainable learning process.

Abstract

The main problem studied is students' low ability to understand and use Arabic, both actively and passively, which impacts their limited access to Islamic literature. The purpose of this study is to identify the types of difficulties in learning Arabic and analyze the causal factors, both internal (motivation, educational background, perception) and external (lecturer teaching methods and academic environment). This study employed a qualitative descriptive method, employing observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis with students and lecturers in Arabic courses. The results indicate that the main difficulties faced by students lie in the application of grammar and grammatical rules, as well as poor speaking (kalam) and listening (istima') skills. This is caused by the dominance of the grammar-translation method and the limited language environment (bi'ah lughawiyyah). This study recommends changing the teaching approach to a communicative method and creating a conducive language environment on campus.
