Abstract

In this era, a tendency for people to think practically has emerged, including in cultural practices, such as the implementation of the Tumpek Wariga ceremony as a concrete manifestation of maintaining the balance between humans and the universe. This study aims to determine the community's understanding of the implementation of Tumpek Wariga. The study used a qualitative study, a phenomenological approach through in-depth interviews, literature studies, and observations. The study was conducted in Keramas Village, Gianyar, with Hindu women as respondents who actively participated in the implementation of Tumpek Wariga. Six respondents were required to understand the offerings, the ceremony procession, and its philosophical meaning. The procession of wounding (nyekak) parts of trees in this ceremony is believed to have philosophical significance. A shift in values was found in the process of preparing the facilities, namely that it is not only farmers who carry out the ceremony and is not limited to plants that produce fruit and leaves. Millennials now strongly believe in the philosophical value of Tumpek Wariga and are relevant to preserve it. Efforts to preserve culture are carried out by introducing and involving children from an early age, integrating education in schools, and optimizing the role of subak, pekaseh and traditional villages.
