Abstract

The main problems for farmers, especially farmers from the Kelompok Tani Mamre, are the scarcity of subsidized fertilizers and the high price of non-subsidized fertilizers. This situation causes a decrease in agricultural productivity and farmer welfare, and increases dependence on chemical fertilizers that can pollute agricultural land. This community service is carried out to provide a solution by empowering farmers to produce liquid organic fertilizers independently, by utilizing local natural resources. This program uses three main stages of method: fertilizer needs survey, liquid organic fertilizer production training, and direct fertilizer production practice. The survey was conducted to understand the fertilizer needs in Desa Tala Peta. Furthermore, farmers are trained on local organic materials that can be used and fertilizer production techniques. The final stage is direct practice, where the results of fertilizer production will be used by farmers. This program is expected to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and support the formation of cooperative-based UMKM to market fertilizers sustainably.

Abstract

Isolation of flavonoid compounds from Salam (Syzygium polyantha Wight) leaves has been done by maceration technique with methanol solvent. Methanol extract obtained was evaporated and dissolved with ethyl acetate. The solution was then concentrated and evaporated. The ethyl acetate fraction was dissolved with methanol and partitioned with n-hexane solvent. The methanol layer was evaporated and then tested with Benedict’s reagent and then acidified with HCl 6% while heated. It was then extracted partition with chloroform. The chloroform layer was separated using Column Chromatography with silica gel as the stationary phase and n-hexane: ethyl acetate 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, and 60:40 v/v, respectively as the mobile phase. The pure compound was paste, brownish red, mass = 8.5 mg, and Rf=0.60. It was a positive reaction with flavonoid compound reagents. The compound was further identified by using UV-Visible, FT-IR, and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Spectroscopy data obtained indicated that the compound is a flavonoid.

Abstract

Isolation and identification of phenolic compounds from Sea Grapes (Coccoloba uvifera (L.) L.) leave, where as much as 1700 g have been macerated using methanol. The concentrated methanol extract was dissolved in water and partitioned with ethyl acetate. Ethyl acetate concentrated extract was separated by column chromatography with chloroform as eluents: methanol 90:10; 80:20; 70:30; 60:40 v/v. The compound obtained was purified by column again using chloroform: ethyl acetate 70:30 v/v with the resulting was 10 mg of brownish yellow paste with a value of Rf = 0.5. The resulting compounds were then analyzed using a UV-Vis, FT-IR, and 1H-NMR spectrophotometer. Based on the data analysis, the results showed phenolic compounds in Sea Grape.
