Adult volleyball athletes often experience high pressure from both internal and external sources. This causes adult athletes to be prone to prolonged stress. If not treated immediately, this can cause them difficulty in achieving their maximum performance. This study aims to examine the effect of mindfulness training in reducing stress in adult volleyball athletes. This study used a quantitative approach with an experimental method involving 8 adult male volleyball athletes aged 17-25 years in Bandung Regency. The instrument used was the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS 10) questionnaire, which was administered before and after the mindfulness training treatment. The results showed that mindfulness training significantly reduced stress levels in adult volleyball athletes. The results of this study showed a significance value of 0.00, which is smaller than 0.05. In conclusion, mindfulness training has been shown to reduce stress among adult volleyball athletes and can serve as a reference for psychological training programs during daily training to help manage stress.

Abstract

To achieve optimal performance in training and competition, internal dialogue and emotional regulation are two important aspects that need to be considered. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-talk and emotional regulation in volleyball athletes in West Bandung Regency. A quantitative descriptive method with a correlational design was used in this study. Twenty-four volleyball athletes from West Bandung Regency participated in this study as samples. A questionnaire to measure self-talk and emotional regulation was given to the samples once. After that, the data were processed and analyzed using SPSS Version 25. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between self-talk and emotional regulation among volleyball athletes. This study concluded that self-talk plays an important role in regulating the emotions of volleyball athletes in West Bandung Regency to achieve their desired goals, namely performance.

Abstract

Sports injuries not only affect physical condition, but also influence athletes’ mental development during the recovery process and return to training. This study aims to analyse the relationship between social support and athletes mental development after injury, as well as to examine differences in mental development based on the severity of the injury. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was used by distributing an online questionnaire to 51 athletes from various sports, including athletes undergoing rehabilitation at the Sport Therapist Injury Laboratory,Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. The instruments used were the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and the Injury Psychological Readiness to Return to Sport (I-PRRS). Data analysis was performed using parametric statistical techniques. The result revealed a weak positive connection between social support and post-injury mental development (r = 0.235), which was not statistically significant (p > 0.05) and no significant differences across injury severity levels (F = 2.175; p > 0.05). These findings indicate that variations in injury severity and perceived social support do not significantly influence athletes’ psychological readiness to return to sport.Overall, the findings indicate that internal psychological factors have a greater influence on mental recovery after injury than external help or injury classification. The results of the study showed that social support had no significant relationship with the mental development of athletes after injury, and there were no differences in mental development based on the severity of the injury. These findings confirm that internal psychological contributions play a more important role in the mental recovery of athletes.
