Abstract

Currently Low Back Pain (LBP) is a major global health problem with an annual prevalenceof 22% - 65%. Many things are the cause of LBP such as spinal deformities from birth, trauma, age, pregnancy and body mass index (BMI). Several previous research are stillcontroversial whether the relationship of body mass index with incidence of low back pain. The design of this study was cross sectional descriptive analytical with the aim to see therelationship between body mass index and the incidence of low back pain in medicalstudents. This research was carried out at Ukrida Medical Faculty with a sample of 216people with 64.4% respondents were female and men 35.6%, and respondent whoexperienced mild low back pain were 94.9%, moderate at 5.1%. Based on body mass index, the majority of respondents had a normal BMI of 55.6%, underweight of 6.9%, then overweight of 37.5% and those who experienced mild pain based on visual analogue scale of79.6%, no pain at 10.2%, moderate pain 8.8%, then controlled severe pain is 1.4%. Afterstatistical tests using Pearson Chi-Square obtained results there is a relationship betweenbody mass index and the incidence of low back pain with p = 0.043.

Abstract

Urothelial carcinoma is a type of cancer that can occur in organs lined with urothelial cells, specifically in the urinary tract. Globally, in 2022, bladder cancer accounted for 3% of all cancer cases. Objective to determine the clinical and histopathological characteristics of urothelial carcinoma patients at a private hospital in West Jakarta from 2021 to 2023. This study is a descriptive study with a retrospective approach conducted at a private hospital in West Jakarta. The sample size was determined using the consecutive sampling technique, resulting in a total of 40 samples. The highest number of urothelial carcinoma cases was recorded in 2021, with 21 cases (52.5%). In this study, 14 cases (35.0%) were found in the 60-69 age group. The most common clinical complaint was gross hematuria, observed in 34 samples (85.0%). Histopathological examination showed that the most frequent pathological stage was pT1, found in 14 samples (35.0%), while the most common pathological grading was high grade, observed in 29 samples (72.5%). The incidence of urothelial carcinoma at a private hospital in West Jakarta from 2021 to 2023 was 40 cases, with gross hematuria being the most common clinical complaint. The highest incidence was in the 60-69 age group. The most frequent pathological stage was pT1, and the most common pathological grading was high grade.

Abstract

The study examines the spirituality of Saint Ignatius of Loyola by positioning the discernment of spirits as the core of the Ignatian faith experience and by exploring its relevance within the context of contemporary Christian life. Drawing on Saint Ignatius of Loyola’s conversion experience as processed through profound reflection, the study demonstrates that Ignatian spirituality developed as an approach to faith rooted in the dynamics of the human interior life and in openness to the action of the Holy Spirit within concrete life situations. Employing a qualitative method through library research, the study analyzes the principal works of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, particularly the Spiritual Exercises, as well as relevant contemporary literature in spiritual theology. The findings indicate that the discernment of spirits cannot be reduced to a form of psychological introspection; rather, it constitutes an integrative spiritual process that engages reason, affectivity, and the will in responsible decision-making oriented toward Gospel values. The Spiritual Exercises are understood as a holistic method of personal transformation, while the principles of finding God in all things and magis affirm the continuing relevance of Ignatian spirituality in addressing the challenges of the modern world. Accordingly, Ignatian spirituality offers a reflective, dialogical, and transformative framework of faith for contemporary Christian living.

Abstract

Background: Fibroadenoma mammae (FAM) is the most common benign breast tumor in women of reproductive age. Although generally non-malignant, its presentation as a palpable lump often causes concern among patients. Several risk factors have been associated with the development and clinical behavior of FAM, including hormonal, genetic, and environmental factors. Among these, body mass index (BMI) has been suggested as a potential modifier of tumor characteristics. However, studies exploring the association between BMI and the clinical presentation of FAM, particularly in the Indonesian population, remain limited. This study aims to evaluate the association between BMI and clinical characteristics of FAM, specifically tumor location, number, and size. Methods: This was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design involving 269 female patients diagnosed with FAM at two hospitals in Jakarta and Tangerang, conducted from 2020 to 2024. Inclusion criteria were women with a confirmed diagnosis of FAM based on ultrasound and/or histopathological findings. Clinical characteristics such as tumor location, number, and size were recorded. BMI was classified according to WHO standards. Statistical analysis was performed using the chi-square test, with a significance level set at p 0.05. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 24.0.Results: The majority of patients had a normal BMI and were within the productive age range. Most FAM cases presented as solitary tumors smaller than 3 cm located in one breast. A statistically significant association was found between BMI and tumor size (p = 0.0001), with overweight-obese individuals more likely to present with larger tumors. However, no significant association was observed between BMI and either the number or location of tumors (p 0.05).Conclusions: TThis study highlights a significant association between BMI and the size of FAM, suggesting that increased body weight may influence tumor growth. Future research should use prospective study designs that specifically collect and analyze data on potential confounders to determine whether BMI is an independent predictor of FAM size. These findings underline the importance of considering BMI in clinical evaluation and patient counseling.
