Abstract

Information seeking reduces uncertainty. Information is needed by human for work needs and other daily activities. One of these activities is a hobby. Many people spend a lot of time and money when they seek information for a hobby rather than for work. Foodie is a person who loves food. Foodie is interested in learning and trying new food. When someone is called a foodie then they must be someone who loves to taste food. A foodie also needs information to be able to taste various food. Social media has become one of information sources used by foodie to get information that related to food. This research shows the process of information seeking by foodie on food photos in Instagram. This study used consumer behavior in the pre-purchase stage of service consumption from Tsiotsou and Wirtz?s theory. Its method was descriptive qualitative by interviewing five foodies who live in Jakarta. Research result shows that Instagram is the main source for foodie when they seek information that related to food such as dining place information.

Abstract

Social media has changed the way people consume. One of the changes is how people eating outside at restaurant. People only need mobile phone to gather information when they feel hungry and look for a place to have dine. Consumers choose restaurants based on the information they get from social media. Consumers can decide which restaurant they would like to go just after checking its reviews and photos on Instagram. This research aims to find the information that consumers use in the buying decision processes. The data was collected through in-depth interviews with restaurant consumers who live in major cities in Indonesia. This study finds that price, location, and Instagram reviews have been considerations in the buying decision processes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the frequency of authoritarian parenting in family drama films and to find out how the film frames the parenting style, especially authoritarian parenting in each scene so that the messages contained can be easily understood by the audience. This research was researched with descriptive quantitative content analysis method. This study also uses four indicators of authoritarian parenting from Robinson, Roper, Mandleco, & Hart, 1995, which include indicators of punishment, release, direction and discipline. The samples in this study are scenes taken from films that aired in 2019 – 2021, namely, NKCTHI, Imperfect, Geez & Ann, Dignitate and Maripossa, with a total of 36 scenes. Calculation of the reliability test on the measuring instrument using two coders, with a sample of 23 scenes. The coding results show that the coding sheet is reliable with the results, in Maripossa film of 0.75 (75%), Imperfect film of 1.0 (100%) and NKCTHI film of 0.8 (80%). The results of the study stated that the indicator that has the highest calculation is the direction indicator with 50%, then 30.4% discipline, 17% vent, and 2.6% punishment. This research can represent social problems related to the harmonious relationship between parents and children, with appropriate framing and emotional play in each scene that makes the message conveyed well through film media.

Abstract

Instagram merupakan media di mana -seseorang dapat berbagi informasi dan melakukan pengungkapan diri sebagai bentuk interaksi atau membangun keakraban dengan followers. Instagram juga menjadi media bagi banyak kasus kebocoran informasi pribadi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi manajemen privasi yang digunakan oleh remaja SMA di Yogyakarta dalam mengontrol pengungkapan diri melalui fitur teman dekat di Instagram Stories. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan Teori Manajemen Komunikasi sebagai kerangka teori. Data diperoleh dari wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa remaja SMA di Yogyakarta cenderung kurang peduli dengan masalah kebocoran informasi pribadi. Informan memiliki alasan yang berbeda di balik keputusan mereka untuk mengatur ulang privasi saat menggunakan fitur teman dekat, termasuk risiko dan manfaat. Gender juga mempengaruhi mengapa mereka mengungkapkan atau menahan informasi pribadi. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa Instagram Stories digunakan untuk menutupi aktivitas mereka di media sosial kepada orang tua mereka.

Abstract

Blogs as an alternative media are now widely used as a medium for telling stories. During the Covid-19 pandemic, there were many stories told by the mass media. However, because the mass media cannot be separated from the goals of capitalism, the information given about Covid-19 often frightens the public. Different stories are offered by the blog authors, who present various interesting stories in this time of the pandemic. This study looks at how family resilience narratives appear in parenting blogs written by mommies. This research used qualitative approach and qualitative content analysis. The object of research is articles related to Covid-19 written by 10 mommy bloggers. The findings show that the articles they write tell three key processes in family resilience, namely the family belief system, family organizational patterns and the communication that occurs in families. Blog sebagai media alternatif kini banyak digunakan sebagai media untuk bercerita. Di masa pandemi Covid-19, banyak cerita yang dituturkan oleh media massa. Namun karena media massa tidak bisa lepas dari tujuan kapitalisme, informasi yang diberikan tentang Covid-19 seringkali membuat masyarakat ketakutan. Cerita berbeda ditawarkan oleh para penulis blog, yang menghadirkan berbagai cerita menarik di masa pandemi ini. Penelitian ini melihat bagaimana narasi ketahanan keluarga muncul di blog pengasuhan yang ditulis oleh para ibu. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif, metode yang digunakan adalah analisis isi kualitatif. Objek penelitian adalah artikel terkait Covid-19 yang ditulis oleh 10 ibu blogger. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa artikel yang mereka tulis menceritakan tiga proses kunci dalam ketahanan keluarga, yaitu sistem kepercayaan keluarga, pola organisasi keluarga dan komunikasi yang terjadi dalam keluarga.

Abstract

The Bumble application is an online dating-based partner search application that is currently popular. The bumble application is an application that brings together the opposite sex by viewing information on profiles such as hobbies, interests, and preferences. This application is believed to be able to provide a solution to the speed of meeting a suitable partner. The purpose of this study was to determine the process of forming interpersonal relationships towards more intimate communication. This researcher focuses on female users of the Bumble application as the holder of control in forming a relationship. The theory used to support this research is social penetration proposed by Irwin Altman and Dalmas. This research was investigated using a descriptive qualitative method with a constructivism study. Data collection techniques used in this study were observations and interviews with five female informants who used the Bumble application. Based on the results of the research that through the activities of Bumble users who interact with each other, it can be found the application of social penetration theory. Starting from the four stages of the social penetration process, namely the orientation stage, affective exploration, affective exchange and stable exchange, female users of the Bumble application apply penetration theory as a process of forming a new relationship with an unknown person.

Abstract

A graphic designer, in addition to having the abilities he has, should have several abilities such as a good attitude at work, sensitivity in solving problems, creativity and broad insight, responsibility, and literacy in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Because with good ICT literacy, graphic designers will find it easy to get sources of information that increase competence in the design process and can make maximum use of technology. This study aims to see how ICT literacy knowledge in the graphic design field of Pekalongan Graphic Design BLK participants uses 7 elements belonging to the 21st Century ICT Literacy Model, namely defining, accessing, evaluating, managing, integrating, creating, and communicating. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out by conducting interviews and observations on three graphic design training participants at the Pekalongan City BLK. From the research that has been done, it can be concluded that one of the three participants of the Pekalongan City BLK training majoring in Graphic Design does not have one of the elements of ICT literacy, namely integrating. Also, in the design process, there are still some obstacles in the language of the tools, the internet, and devices such as laptops that suddenly crash and are full of memory.

Abstract

The animated children show Upin & Ipin is a popular show in Indonesia that contains many messages that can be a learned by Indonesian children. One of the issues most often carried in the Upin and Ipin show is religiosity, which is raised through worship activities, celebrations of religious holidays, and running daily life in accordance with the teachings of Islam. This study sees the concept of Glock and Stark's religious religion which is divided into five dimensions. The five dimensions are ritual dimension, intellectual dimension, ideology dimension, experimental dimension, and consequence dimension. The method used is quantitative content analysis. The results showed that the ritual dimensions that appeared were the biggest, then the intellectual dimensions and consequence dimensions were also emerged in a smaller percentage. In the animation "Upin & Ipin" the ritual dimensions performed by the characters in daily life emerge in the form of prayer, fasting, adhan, ablution, praying, celebrating the holiday, and reciting. The intellectual dimension emerged with a scene of the residents of Kampung Durian Runtuh who attended religious study activities. While the consequence dimensions are described when the characters do good deeds to fellow human beings.

Abstract

Action films are closely related to dangerous physical scenes. In those action films it shows much that the person or character is a man, because the man is often considered a strong, muscular, strapping person who is very fit for an action movie. A man having such characteristics is usually called a masculine male. Following are some of Indonesia's action films showing scenes of masculinity, the Hit&Run (2019), Gundala (2019), 22 Minutes (2018), Partikelir (2018), Headshot (2016) and The Raid: Redemption (2011). Researchers analyzing the masculinity of the six films using seven concepts of masculinity presented by Janet Salfetz, by masculinity can be seen from physical appearance, functional, sexuality, emotional, intellectual, interpersonal and personal character. This study has made ita goal to identify the frequency of masculinity in our action films and to learn the form of masculinity in action films. This type of research is a descriptive study using a quantitative analysis of content. The six films above as objects of his research. Results in this study revealed that the true form of masculinity was 29%, the sexuality of 26% men, the interpersonal 14%, the personal character of men 10%, the intellectual men 9%, functional men 8%,
