Abstract

Although the concept of Islamic economics has been the focus of various previous studies, research that specifically examines the relevance of the Islamic worldview in the discipline of Islamic economics remains relatively limited. This study aims not only to describe Islamic economics but also to analyze in detail how the Islamic worldview is relevant to the discipline of Islamic economics. It employs a qualitative approach with a library research design and descriptive analysis. The findings show that the discipline of Islamic economics is highly relevant to the Islamic worldview because it possesses an epistemological foundation rooted in revelation and its validity has been scientifically tested. Islamic economic theory is derived from the Qur'an and Hadith, while its economic philosophy is sourced from religion (ad-diin). In addition, Islamic economics simultaneously encompasses two disciplines, namely economics (Iqtishad) and fikih muamalah. This study extends the analysis of Islamic economics, contributes theoretically to enriching the literature on Islamic economics, and has practical implications for various related stakeholders. It also opens opportunities for further exploration of the relevance of the Islamic worldview in Islamic economics in the contemporary modern era.

Abstract

Although Qur’anic values have been widely discussed in previous studies, research that specifically highlights the role of Qur’anic values in shaping the Islamic character of santri, particularly in the Indonesian context, remains relatively limited. This study aimed to examine in depth the implementation of Qur’anic values in the formation of Islamic character at Lembaga Rumah Qur’an Nurul Jihad Atari Jaya, while also describing the history of the institution’s establishment, with a focus on how values in the philosophy of Islamic education, namely ubudiyah (servitude to Allah), khalifah (stewardship), ahsan (optimization of deeds), adil (justice), and mas’uliyah (responsibility), are actualized in learning strategies, curriculum management, and the formation of students’ Islamic character. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving field observations of the tahfidzul Qur’an learning process and in-depth interviews with two tahfidz teachers and the head of the Rumah Qur’an institution. The findings show that the implementation of Qur’anic values at Rumah Qur’an Atari Jaya represents strong integration between the philosophy of Islamic education and the practice of Islamic character formation, thereby realizing an educational practice that is comprehensive, contextual, and transformative. These values function not only as a conceptual foundation in institutional documents but have also been internalized within a humanistic and spiritual learning culture oriented toward strengthening the Islamic character of santri. This study also opens up opportunities for further, more critical exploration of the implementation of Qur’anic values in character formation across diverse Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Although Ibn Khaldun’s educational thought has been widely discussed in various studies, research that specifically examines its relevance to modern education, particularly in the Indonesian context, remains relatively limited. This study aimed to explore in depth the educational thought of Ibnu Khaldun, describe his intellectual background, and analyze the relevance of his educational concepts to educational practice in the modern era. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed with a library research design and descriptive analysis of Ibnu Khaldun’s works and related literature. The findings show that Ibnu Khaldun’s educational thought has strong relevance to modern Islamic education, including his concept of gradual learning, which aligns with contemporary educational psychology theories; his rejection of coercion and violence, which is consistent with humanistic educational approaches; and his idea of maintaining a balance between religious sciences and rational sciences, which corresponds to the needs of Islamic education in the modern era. These findings affirm that Ibnu Khaldun’s educational thought can serve as an important reference for developing an educational paradigm that is balanced, humanistic, and contextual, while also opening opportunities for further critical exploration of the relevance and application of his ideas in today’s education systems.
