Abstract

This study aims to describe the linguistic variations in Arabic usage among students of the Arabic Language Education Program, Class E, 2024 cohort, consisting of 15 students, and to identify the contributing factors and challenges in Arabic language learning. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that students' use of Arabic is highly diverse, encompassing variations in dialect, function, formality, and communication medium. These variations are influenced by students’ educational backgrounds (e.g., salafi and modern Islamic boarding schools, state Islamic high schools), regional origins, as well as technological and cultural developments. In practice, students frequently combine fusha, 'amiyah, and elements of Indonesian or regional languages in daily interactions. The study also highlights the challenges of curriculum harmonization, the shortage of qualified Arabic teachers, and the necessity for inclusive and intercultural teaching approaches. These findings underscore the sociolinguistic reality that language variation reflects students' social identities and interactional dynamics. Therefore, adaptive and context-sensitive strategies are required to develop Arabic language instruction that is both linguistically effective and culturally relevant in a multicultural academic environment.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using quartet cards in improving the mufrodat (Arabic vocabulary) skills of fourth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah Al Hanif in Palu City. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The research subjects were 40 students divided into two groups: an experimental group using quartet cards and a control group using conventional methods. Data collection was conducted through vocabulary tests before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant improvement in vocabulary mastery in the experimental group compared to the control group. The average post-test scores of the experimental group were statistically higher, proving that quartet cards are effective as a learning aid for Arabic vocabulary. This study suggests that Arabic language teachers at the elementary level should maximize the use of interactive media such as quartet cards in the learning process

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Arabic language environment (bi’ah lughawiyyah) in building the self-confidence of female students at Daarul Ukhuwwah Islamic Boarding School, Malang. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, as it seeks to provide an in-depth description of how the Arabic language environment is implemented in a modern Islamic boarding school. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of bi’ah lughawiyyah is carried out systematically through mandatory language policies, daily communication habituation, and structured programs such as muhadatsah, muhadharah, and other language activities integrated into the daily life of the boarding school. This language environment functions not only as a means of improving linguistic competence but also as a medium for developing affective aspects, particularly students’ self-confidence. This is evidenced by increased speaking courage, the ability to express ideas, and a reduction in language anxiety. However, the effectiveness of the language environment is influenced by internal factors such as students’ linguistic backgrounds and psychological conditions, as well as external factors such as institutional support and peer social dynamics. Therefore, the success of bi’ah lughawiyyah is determined not only by the intensity of language use but also by the quality of a supportive and adaptive environment in managing students’ psychological aspects. Keywords: Bi’ah Lughawiyyah, self-confidence, Arabic language, Islamic boarding school.
