Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of an inclusive education workshop for educators and parents in improving participants' understanding, attitudes, and skills regarding the application of inclusive education principles. The workshop was implemented through several stages, including planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results of this activity showed a significant increase in participants' level of understanding, with a 30–35% increase in post-test scores compared to the pre-test. Participants no longer interpreted inclusive education as merely accepting students with special needs, but understood the importance of curriculum adaptation, learning differentiation, and fair assessment for all children. The workshop also succeeded in changing participants' attitudes to be more positive and empathetic towards diversity, and strengthened awareness of the importance of collaboration between teachers and parents. In terms of skills, participants demonstrated improved abilities in pedagogical, communication, and socio-emotional aspects through simulation and role-play activities. Overall, this workshop proved effective in building participants' capacity and commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming, and equitable learning environment for all students.

Abstract

This community service program is entitled Mentoring of FKIP Student Teaching Practices as an Effort to Improve the Quality of the Learning Process at MA Ulumuddin. The goal is to strengthen the pedagogic competence of prospective teacher students and improve the quality of the learning process at partner schools. The implementation method is in the form of intensive assistance during Field Experience Practice (PPL) for 5 FKIP students at MA Ulumuddin, from September to December 2025. The mentoring model combines remote consultations via mobile phones, classroom monitoring visits, and rubric-based assessments. The results of the evaluation showed a significant improvement in student competence in preparing lesson plans, implementing interactive teaching strategies, managing classes, and conducting assessments. On the other hand, partner schools benefit in the form of refreshing pedagogical practices in the classroom. This program proves the effectiveness of the university-school partnership model that has a dual impact, namely preparing competent teacher candidates and at the same time contributing to improving the quality of education at the school level. For this reason, replication and institutionalization of this model are highly recommended for sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of the integration of metacognitive strategies and deep learning approaches on reading engagement of EFL students at IAIN Lhokseumawe. Using a qualitative case study design, the study involved 30 students of the English Language Study Program who were observed for 12 weeks. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with 23 participants, and analysis of 90 student reflection journals. Data analysis was carried out thematically by triangulation to validate the findings. The results showed that the combination of metacognitive strategies (planning, monitoring, self-evaluation) and deep learning principles (inquiry-based learning and problem-solving) significantly increased reading engagement. Key findings include: (1) a 62% increase in the use of metacognitive strategies, (2) the transformation of interactions from mechanical to collaborative-critical, and (3) the internalization of strategies observed during the 12 weeks of the English Study Program, which occurred through three adaptation phases and were achieved in a span of 4 to 6 weeks. Implementation challenges such as infrastructure limitations and cultural resistance were successfully overcome through gradual scaffolding and contextual adaptation. This research provides practical contributions on innovative learning implementation models in resource-constrained environments, while simultaneously enriching the literature on contextual EFL pedagogy in Indonesia. The findings underscore the importance of a culturally sensitive approach in the implementation of Western learning strategies.
