Abstract

Hadis sebagai sumber ajaran Islam kedua setelah Al-Qur’an memiliki peran sentral dalam pembentukan As the second source of Islamic teachings after the Qur'an, the Hadith plays a central role in shaping the religious practices of Muslims. However, differences in the quality of the Hadith—ṣaḥīḥ, ḥasan, and ḍa‘īf—often give rise to debates regarding their practice, particularly when the text is understood literally without considering the linguistic characteristics of Arabic. This study aims to reinterpret the practice of the Hadith through an Arabic linguistic approach, emphasizing the analysis of lexical, syntactic, and stylistic (balāghah) aspects of the Hadith text. The research method used is qualitative-descriptive with a library research approach, using primary sources in the form of classical Hadith books and Arabic linguistic literature, as well as secondary sources from contemporary Hadith studies. The results show that a comprehensive linguistic understanding can clarify the meaning of the Hadith, distinguish between the true meaning and figurative language, and avoid errors in determining laws and practicing practices. The linguistic approach also makes a significant contribution to assessing the relevance of the practice of hadith, including the hadith of ḍa‘īf, to the realm of fadā’il al-a‘māl and Islamic education. Thus, reinterpreting the practice of hadith through an Arabic linguistic approach can strengthen the integration between the science of hadith and linguistics, and encourage a more contextual and moderate understanding of religious texts.

Abstract

issue, but also as a social, moral, and structural reality. Understanding the concept of poverty in the Qur'an requires a comprehensive approach, especially through the analysis of Arabic as the primary medium of revelation. This article aims to examine the concept of poverty in the Qur'an using the thematic interpretation method (al-tafsīr al-mawḍū‘ī) through a semantic and contextual approach to Arabic. This research is a qualitative study with primary data sources in the form of Qur'anic verses related to poverty, as well as secondary data sources in the form of classical and contemporary commentaries, Arabic dictionaries, and linguistic literature. The analysis was carried out by inventorying related verses, then examining the lexical and contextual meaning of poverty vocabulary such as faqīr, miskīn, and other related terms through the study of dalālah and siyāq al-lughawī, and considering the socio-historical context of the revelation of the verses. The study's findings demonstrate that the concept of poverty in the Qur'an has a multi-layered and dynamic meaning, encompassing economic, social, and ethical dimensions, and emphasizing individual and collective responsibility in realizing social justice. A semantic and contextual approach to Arabic enriches the understanding of thematic interpretation by presenting a more accurate, proportionate, and relevant interpretation to the context of contemporary life.

Abstract

The study of Arabic language and literature during the medieval period offers a deep understanding of the intellectual and cultural dynamics of Arabic that formed the foundation of the development of modern Arabic language and literature. This study aims to analyze aspects of medieval language and literature by covering political conditions and their influence on literary production, the development of historiographic works, the emergence of the encyclopedia genre, the biographical tradition (tarājim), the role of language scholars, and the phenomenon of the decline of classical literature. The method used is a library study with a historical-descriptive approach and comparative textual analysis. The results of the study show that the fragmented political conditions in the medieval period gave rise to a diverse intellectual environment, which triggered the growth of historiography, encyclopedism, and biographical writing as an effort to document and legitimize intellectually. The role of language scholars in the process of codifying nahwu, lexicography, and balaghah helped strengthen the standard of Arabic language that has survived into the modern era. On the other hand, the tendency of decline in classical literature, especially in poetic creativity, actually opened up space for the birth of modern literary innovation in the 19th and 20th centuries. Overall, these findings confirm that the legacy of medieval Arabic language and literature has significant implications for the formation of the linguistic and aesthetic identity of modern Arabic literature, both as an inherited model and as a starting point for contemporary literary renewal.
