Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The background of the writing of this study because the freight is often encounteredsome obstacles gas which is then encapsulated in a few issues, while the problemsencountered, among others, how is the role of the temperature outside propane tank in theloading process and any attempt to do when the temperature outside is different tanks withthe temperature in the cargo tank. In this study using qualitative methods, the research aimsto explain the phenomenon of the deepest data collection. This study does not give priority topopulation size or sampling, even a very limited sampling. If the data collected has beenprofound and could explain the phenomenon under study, then no need to look for othersampling. Qualitative research is more pressing on the issue of depth (quality) of data, notthe number (quantity) of data.It can be concluded that the change in temperature outside thevessel can greatly affect the handling of loading and unloading activities, especially in thecourse of loading, at which time the temperature outside is very cold or heat can affect thecondition of the cargo and the tank.

Abstract

To improve the academic ability of a cadet, it is necessary to apply the principles of shipping with the use of computer technology which is accommodated by existing shipping programs on board. In the implementation of a voyage, it always uses a passage plan to make it easier to navigate either flat or electronically. A cadet must really be equipped with the ability to calculate manually and the ability to understand the use of shipping tables and be able to apply it in a computer program. The research method is descriptive. Data collection was carried out by manual calculation of the concept of Flat Sailing using a Mercator map and comparison of the results of calculations with programs on the ship, observation, structured interviews, documentary studies and library research. The purpose of this study was to compare the results of manual calculations and by using shipping programs carried out by cadets in the implementation of the Passage Plan. The results showed that the cadets still did not understand the application of cruise calculation formulas on the projection of the mercator chart or mercator map. Cadets in entering data in a program are still wrong and less thorough so that it will affect the implementation of the passage plan.

Abstract

Maritime education management plays a crucial role in ensuring cadets are well-prepared for the maritime industry through practical learning onboard training ships. This study focuses on how practical learning on training ships, such as KL Husni Thamrin, KL Bung Tomo, KL Malahayati, KL Laksamana Muda John Lie, KL Sultan Hasanudin, KL Frans Kaisepo, KL Barombong bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world experience. Cadets are provided with hands-on experience in navigation, ship handling, and emergency simulations, following international standards set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This practical approach helps develop essential technical and non-technical competencies required in the maritime industry. However, challenges such as resource limitations, weather conditions, and high operational costs require efficient management and innovative teaching strategies. This article explores these aspects and offers recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of maritime education management for cadets' onboard learning experiences. Ultimately, this study emphasizes the need for continuous improvement in educational management frameworks within maritime institutions, suggesting that collaborative efforts with industry stakeholders and the adoption of innovative teaching methods can further enhance the training quality for future maritime professionals. By addressing these challenges and leveraging technological advancements, maritime education can ensure its graduates are not only competent but also adaptable to the ever-evolving demands of the global maritime landscape.
