Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal’s management in developing school facilities and infrastructure at SDN Kiduldalem I Bangil, focusing on how the principal’s leadership role contributes to improving the quality of educational facilities and learning processes. The phenomenon studied reflects the challenges faced by public elementary schools in managing facilities effectively amid limited resources. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, which allows for an in-depth understanding of managerial and social contexts within the school. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, direct observation of the school environment, and document analysis of administrative records such as the School Work and Budget Plan (RKAS) and infrastructure reports. The results revealed five main themes: (1) participatory planning based on school needs, (2) collaborative and transparent implementation, (3) maintenance based on collective responsibility, (4) transformational and innovative leadership, and (5) the impact of development on learning quality. The principal acted as a change agent by emphasizing collaboration, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), and community-based innovation. These findings indicate that effective school management is not merely administrative but also involves a transformational leadership dimension that fosters an adaptive and sustainable organizational culture.

Abstract

Improving teachers’ professional competence is essential for strengthening the quality of basic education in Indonesia, particularly because teacher performance is shaped not only by individual capability but also by managerial and psychological conditions within schools. This study aims to analyze the influence of participative leadership, work discipline, and motivation on teachers’ professional competence at SDS Muhammadiyah 1 Menganti, Gresik Regency. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of 43 teachers, all of whom were selected as respondents through total sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS 26. The findings show that participative leadership significantly influences teachers’ professional competence, with a t-value of 2.874 and a significance value of 0.007. Work discipline also has a significant effect, with a t-value of 3.216 and a significance value of 0.003. Motivation is the most dominant variable, with a t-value of 4.102 and a significance value of 0.000. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly affect teachers’ professional competence, with an F-value of 28.764 and significance of 0.000. The model explains 67.1% of variance, offering practical implications for school leadership development.

Abstract

Objective: this study sets out to portray how the morning assembly program is managed as a vehicle of character education to strengthen student discipline, to map the factors that support and hinder its implementation, and to examine the effects the program has produced at two public junior secondary schools in Tuban Regency. Methods: a qualitative approach with a comparative case-study design was applied at UPT SMPN 1 Rengel and UPT SMPN 1 Grabagan; data were gathered through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. Results: the management of the morning assembly runs through four interlocking managerial functions, namely systematic planning, clear organizing, habituation-based actuating, and continuous controlling. Principal leadership, teacher role-modeling, parental support, adequate facilities, and a supportive school culture were the main enabling factors, while inconsistent student participation, limited time, uneven supervision, and weather were recurring obstacles; the program measurably reduced tardiness and strengthened uniform compliance. Novelty: rather than treating the morning assembly as a mere ceremonial routine, this study frames it as an integrative managerial model of character education and offers a comparative account across two schools that carries practical lessons for junior secondary schools with similar characteristics in Indonesia.
