Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the profile of senior high school students’ critical and creative thinking skills in Biology learning as part of developing 6C competencies. The method employed was descriptive quantitative research involving 33 students of class XI.10 at SMAN 1 Karanganyar, Kebumen Regency, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using essay tests of critical thinking skills based on Ennis’ indicators, creative thinking skills based on Torrance’s indicators, student perception questionnaires, and classroom observations. The data were analyzed descriptively using the mean score of each indicator. The results showed that the average score of students’ critical thinking skills based on the five Ennis indicators was 67.8%, categorized as moderate, while creative thinking skills based on Torrance’s indicators reached 55.56%, categorized as low. Students’ perception questionnaires indicated that both critical and creative thinking skills were in the high category with an average score of 73%. Classroom observation results supported the findings of the essay tests. In conclusion, students’ critical thinking skills in Biology learning are categorized as moderate, while their creative thinking skills are categorized as low.   Keywords: Biology, Creative Thinking, Critical Thinking, Profile, Senior High School Students.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the readiness and thinking habits of students, namely self-regulation and critical thinking in facing biology learning based on deep learning. The study was conducted using descriptive qualitative - quantitative methods, namely data collection with questionnaire results and observations during the learning process supported by the results of student answers through interviews. Participants in this study were 103 students of class X digital media at SMA Islam Sultan Agung 1 Semarang who received biology subjects on environmental change. The results of the study were collected through a habits of mind questionnaire with a score of 81 in the very good category. The observation results showed that students' habits of mind scored 71.53 in the good category and deep learning data scored 54.19 in the sufficient category. Strengthened by interview data, habits of mind were already good although not optimal, but in deep learning data still need optimization even though some have been implemented. Thus, the habits of mind of class X students of SMA Islam Sultan Agung 1 Semarang need to be improved to support the implementation of deep learning learning which is still not optimal in its preparation. Abstract

This study aims to determine students' readiness and thinking habits in deep learning-based biology instruction, based on this premise. This research was conducted using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods, in which data were collected through questionnaires and observations during the learning process, with interviews to support students' opinions. This study involved 103 students from grade X digital media at SMA Islam Sultan Agung 1 Semarang, who were studying biology material on environmental change. The research collected through the questionnaire showed that the self-regulation score was 82 (good), the critical thinking score was 80 (good), while the creative thinking score was 68.50 (enough). The observation results showed that the self-regulation score was 80.56 (good), the critical thinking score was 62.50 (enough), and the creative thinking score was 69.44 (enough). Interview data corroborate that self-regulation is optimal, but critical and creative thinking have not become a habit in students' thinking. Therefore, the thinking habits of class X students at SMA Islam Sultan Agung 1 Semarang still need improvement, especially in creativity and critical thinking.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential of implementing ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) oriented website-based learning in Physics learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Questionnaires, observation, and documentation methods were chosen as data collection techniques. The results of data collection were analyzed using data triangulation. The survey results showed that 86% of teacher respondents were in the proficient or very proficient category, which indicates a high readiness to adopt website-based learning media. Although related to the implementation of ESD in learning, it shows that 45% of teachers have integrated ESD in their learning, 41% of teachers have understood the concept of ESD but have not integrated ESD in learning, and 14% of teachers have not understood the concept of ESD in learning. These results indicate a great opportunity to strengthen the understanding and practice of ESD through the development of website-based teaching materials. This data is supported by the results of the student questionnaire which showed that as many as 20 of 22 students (91%) agreed or strongly agreed that the use of digital media in learning provides benefits. These results show that most students have experience and comfort in digital-based learning. The results of the questionnaire show that both teachers and students have positive perceptions and readiness in integrating digital technology, especially website, in ESD oriented Physics learning. Development website Interactive and ESD-oriented Physics learning is a strategic step to improve the quality of learning in the digital era.
