Abstract

This study develops a Big Data-based plagiarism detection system using Similarity Measures to enhance objectivity and efficiency in evaluating student assignments. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach, the system processes .pdf and .docx documents through text preprocessing and computes similarities using Jaccard and Cosine Similarity. Testing on assignments from the Information Technology Program at the University of Timor showed that Cosine Similarity is more sensitive to sentence structure, while Jaccard better detects identical phrases. Around 40% of documents exceeded a 40% similarity threshold, indicating potential plagiarism. The system offers fast, flexible detection via a web interface, though it remains limited in identifying semantic or paraphrased content. Future improvements will incorporate NLP techniques to enhance accuracy and academic integrity

Abstract

Abstract

Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is a statistical approach widely used to analyze causal relationships between latent and observed variables. A key issue in SEM lies in selecting an appropriate parameter estimation method, as it strongly affects the accuracy and interpretation of results. Among the most common estimation techniques are Maximum Likelihood (ML) and Weighted Least Squares (WLS). This study aims to compare the performance of ML and WLS in estimating path coefficients within SEM analysis. Using simulated data generated with the simulateData() function from a predefined structural model, three scenarios are examined with sample sizes of 500 and 1000. Data transformation procedures are applied to ensure consistency before model testing. Each SEM model is then estimated using both ML and WLS, and the results are evaluated through Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) values obtained from 100 replications. Findings indicate that WLS generally outperforms ML in terms of model fit and stability. In the first scenario with a sample size of 500, WLS achieves a lower average RMSEA (0.0141) compared to ML (0.0172). With a sample size of 1000 in the second scenario, both methods produce similar RMSEA values (0.009 for WLS and 0.0096 for ML), though WLS demonstrates lower variability. In the third scenario, also with a sample size of 1000, WLS records an average RMSEA of 0.0074 versus 0.0092 for ML. Overall, the results suggest that WLS is more effective and reliable than ML in providing accurate parameter estimates across different data conditions and sample sizes.

Abstract

Learning linear inequalities still encounters challenges in terms of visualization and interactivity, while the evaluation of digital learning media generally relies only on descriptive analysis, resulting in less comprehensive findings. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of RShiny-based digital learning media through the integration of Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) and K-Medoids clustering as a scientific novelty in examining multidimensional patterns of student perceptions. The media was implemented among 101 tenth-grade students from three schools using a five-construct questionnaire that had been previously tested for validity and reliability. The results showed that most students responded positively to the interface, clarity of material, and ease of use; MCA identified dominant indicators including increased motivation, conceptual understanding, and assessment outcomes, while K-Medoids produced two perception clusters, namely highly positive and moderate. Therefore, the RShiny-based media is proven effective in enhancing students’ motivation, conceptual understanding, and academic performance in learning linear inequalities.

Abstract

Background. Agricultural sustainability in Bali’s highland regions faces increasing challenges due to soil degradation, excessive chemical input, and the decline of traditional farming practices. These issues threaten both environmental resilience and the socio-economic stability of smallholder farmers. Purpose. This study aims to implement and evaluate an integrated organic farming system designed to empower local farmer groups through environmentally sustainable and economically viable agricultural practices.   Method. The research employed a participatory action research (PAR) method involving 60 farmers across three highland villages Kintamani, Pelaga, and Pupuan. The program integrated organic composting, biopesticide application, crop rotation, and market linkage training. Data were collected through field observations, yield measurements, and pre- and post-intervention surveys assessing knowledge, productivity, and income. Results. Results of the study demonstrated that the implementation of an integrated organic farming system effectively improved agricultural productivity, environmental quality, and farmers’ socio-economic well-being in the highlands of Bali. Conclusion. The study concludes that implementing a community-based organic farming model can simultaneously promote environmental restoration and rural economic empowerment. The success of this approach demonstrates its potential scalability for sustainable agriculture programs across Indonesia’s highland ecosystems.
