Abstract

Banjar traditional cuisine is part of a cultural heritage that originated and developed within the context of wetland ecosystems, such as rivers and swamps, which are characteristic of the South Kalimantan region. However, modernization and changes in consumption patterns have caused many local cuisines to become marginalized, especially in areas that originally depended on the natural potential of wetlands. If preservation and revitalization efforts are not immediately undertaken, this rich traditional cuisine is at risk of being lost and disconnected from the younger generation. This study aims to analyze the social function and role of traditional foods in the lives of the Banjar people in South Kalimantan. The research method used is qualitative with an ethnographic approach. This research was conducted in the city of Banjarmasin, which is known for its rich culinary traditions. In this study, data were collected from nine informants who were selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews with cultural practitioners, and visual documentation. The data obtained was then analyzed thematically to obtain descriptive-qualitative data related to the dynamics of traditional culinary preservation in the context of local ecology and culture. The study's results revealed that the social function and role of traditional foods can be identified through their type, raw materials, preparation methods, and meaning. The social function of traditional foods can be seen in traditional and religious events, in social relationships, and in the local economy. In addition to social functions, there are also cultural functions as symbols of identity and as a medium for passing on values from generation to generation. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that traditional foods are not only culinary delights but also have social and cultural functions in accordance with the supporting community and the surrounding environment. From this study, it can be suggested that the community and the government support preservation and revitalization efforts through collaborative and sustainable activities.

Abstract

Kata kunci: KPK dan FPB, Self-Directed Learning Oriented Assessment, tes formatif        Abstract: The inability of students to self-assess their learning poses a new challenge in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. This study aims to develop a formative test based on Self-Directed Learning Oriented Assessment (SLOA) with LCM and GCD material that is valid, practical, and effective to train students' independent assessment skills and improve learning outcomes. Using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the research involved 15 fifth-grade students from SDN Kuin Cerucuk 3 Banjarmasin. The results showed that the formative test based on Self-Directed Learning Oriented Assessment(SLOA) with LCM and GCD material developed met the criteria of valid, practical, and effective. This formative test is declared valid, because the validity value for formative test questions is 3.65 and for self-assessment is 3.78 with a very valid category, practical based on positive responses from teachers and the results of a practicality questionnaire of 92% with a very practical category, and effective because there is an average increase in the four formative test results of students. Thus, the KPK and FPB formative tests based on Self-Directed Learning Oriented Assessment can be used in the learning process and meet the criteria of valid, practical, and effective. Keywords: Formative test, KPK and FPB, Self-Directed Learning Oriented Assessment

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, including Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan. Effective prevention requires an educational approach that is not only evidence-based but also culturally sensitive to ensure community acceptance. Integrating local wisdom, such as the oral art of madihin and traditional taboos, is considered effective because it aligns with the socio-cultural values of the Banjar community. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of stunting education based on Banjar culture through madihin videos (traditional oral art), live madihin performances, and the reinforcement of traditional taboos as pillars of healthy family parenting. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test–post-test control group was employed. The sample consisted of 100 families with toddlers in Banjar Regency, divided into 50 intervention and 50 control participants. Sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The intervention provided education on stunting, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, traditional taboos, and parenting through videos and live madihin performances, which included health messages and discussions on Banjarese traditional taboos related to diet, pregnancy, and childcare. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon test to compare pre-test and post-test scores within groups, and Independent t-test to compare differences between intervention and control groups. The intervention group showed a significant improvement in knowledge and attitudes. The mean knowledge score increased from 26.94 to 31.58 (p=0.001), while the attitude score rose from 38.68 to 47.78 (p=0.001). In contrast, the control group showed only a small increase in knowledge (24.80 to 25.20; p=0.001) and no significant change in attitude (20.21 to 29.79; p=0.108). These findings indicate that a culture-based approach is more effective in improving knowledge and fostering positive family attitudes than conventional education. Health education that incorporates madihin and traditional taboos can serve as a strategic innovation in health promotion, particularly in stunting prevention through strengthening family parenting practices in Banjar Regency.
