Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Eco-Athletics learning model in improving fundamental motor skills and environmental awareness among students of the Physical Education Study Program at Pamulang University. The research employed a quasi-experimental method using a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. It was conducted at the open sports field and educational park of Pamulang University for 8 weeks. Participants consisted of 60 students selected through simple random sampling and divided into an experimental group (n = 30) and a control group (n = 30). The experimental group received treatment using the Eco-Athletics model, which integrates outdoor physical activities and ecological education, while the control group followed conventional physical education. Instruments used included the Test of Gross Motor Development (TGMD-2) to measure motor skills and a validated environmental awareness questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 25 with normality tests, paired t-tests, independent ttests, and Cohen's d effect size. Results indicated significant improvements in fundamental motor skills and environmental awareness in the experimental group compared to the control group (p < 0.05). The effect sizes for both variables were large (Cohen's d > 1.5). These findings suggest that the Eco-Athletics model is an effective pe

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the effectiveness of breaststroke swimming technique training using slow-motion video in improving the basic techniques of students in the Physical Education Program at Pamulang University. The research method employed was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The sample consisted of 40 students, divided into two groups: the experimental group received treatment using slow-motion video, while the control group underwent training using conventional demonstration methods. Assessment was conducted on five aspects of breaststroke technique: body position, arm movement, leg movement, breathing coordination, and movement rhythm. The results showed a significant improvement in technique scores in both groups, with the experimental group achieving a statistically higher improvement (p < 0.05). The average posttest score for the experimental group reached 20.15, while the control group only reached 16.85. The most notable improvements occurred in movement coordination and rhythm. The use of slow-motion video provided detailed visual feedback, allowing students to observe and correct movement errors independently. It can be concluded that slow-motion video is an effective learning medium for enhancing mastery of basic breaststroke techniques. These findings support the application of visual technology as an innovative strategy in motor skill learning, particularly in higher education physical education settings.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the body language of table tennis athletes from a semiotic perspective and its implications for physical education and sports. Body language was understood as a form of nonverbal communication conveying messages, emotions, and intentions without words. The study employed a qualitative descriptive-analytic approach through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and visual documentation involving ten athletes, two coaches, and one organization administrator. Data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion stages based on the theories of icon, index, and symbol signs. The results indicated five main categories of athlete body language: readiness (85 %), aggressiveness (70 %), emotional control (60 %), social interaction (55 %), and post-match expression (100 %). These body movements functioned not only as biomechanical responses but also as a system of signs reflecting psychological states, game strategies, and values of sportsmanship. The findings confirmed that athletes’ bodies served as a medium of symbolic communication with pedagogical implications in physical education. Practical implications include the importance for coaches and teachers to recognize and utilize nonverbal cues in character development, enhance training effectiveness, and develop more reflective and communicative learning models.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of traditional game-based instructional strategies in enhancing elementary school students’ cognitive skills in physical education (PE) learning. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group approach. The study was conducted in a primary school located in a mountainous area with limited access to digital learning resources, emphasizing the importance of contextual and low-cost instructional alternatives. The participants consisted of eighteen fourth- and fifth-grade students who were divided into an experimental group (n = 9) and a control group (n = 9). The experimental group received PE instruction integrated with traditional games, while the control group was taught using conventional instructional methods. Students’ cognitive skills were measured using a cognitive assessment instrument administered before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired-samples t-tests, independent-samples t-tests, and normalized gain (N-Gain) analysis. The results indicated that both groups experienced significant improvements in cognitive performance; however, the experimental group demonstrated substantially higher learning gains. The experimental group achieved a mean gain of 12.56 (52.7%), compared to 7.67 (37.9%) in the control group. Inferential analysis revealed a statistically significant difference in posttest scores favoring the experimental group. These findings suggest that traditional game-based instructional strategies are effective in improving students’ cognitive skills in physical education learning, particularly in educational settings with limited technological resources.
