Abstract

Character education serves as a fundamental foundation for shaping the personality of elementary school students. However, in practice, character education is often implemented in a normative manner and has not been deeply integrated into the learning process. This article aims to examine the revitalization of character education in elementary schools through the Deep Learning approach from the perspective of Bung Hatta’s national education ideas. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by analyzing relevant literature, including Bung Hatta’s educational thoughts, national education policies, and theoretical as well as empirical studies on deep learning and character education. The findings indicate that Bung Hatta’s educational ideas emphasize the development of individuals with strong character, moral integrity, independence, and a sense of responsibility as citizens. These values conceptually align with the principles of Deep Learning, which focus on meaningful understanding, critical reflection, active student engagement, and the internalization of values within real-life contexts. The integration of the Deep Learning approach with Bung Hatta’s national education ideas has the potential to revitalize character education in elementary schools in a more contextual, holistic, and sustainable manner. Therefore, this approach can serve as a strategic alternative for strengthening the implementation of character education that goes beyond knowledge acquisition and emphasizes the formation of students’ attitudes and noble values.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the challenges of implementing the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools from the perspective of classroom teachers. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study conducted at SDN 114/II Rantau Pandan. The subjects were classroom teachers directly involved in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, learning observations, and documentation studies, then analyzed using an interactive analysis model. The results showed that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum has not been optimal. Classroom teachers still face obstacles such as limited conceptual understanding, difficulties in developing teaching modules, suboptimal implementation of differentiated learning, and obstacles in implementing assessments. Administrative burdens and minimal ongoing mentoring also affect curriculum implementation. This study concludes that systemic support is needed to improve the quality of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of academic supervision that tends to be merely procedural and its impact on teachers’ professionalism in sustaining the quality of learning in elementary schools. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using an interactive analysis model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that academic supervision has been conducted in a scheduled and administrative manner but has not fully functioned as a continuous professional development process. Teachers tend to demonstrate more structured and varied teaching practices during supervision sessions but revert to minimal instructional practices in daily teaching. This indicates that learning quality is still influenced by external control rather than driven by teachers’ internal professional awareness. The lack of reflective dialogue and follow-up actions also hinders the development of a sustainable culture of instructional improvement. The study highlights the importance of collaborative, reflective, and continuous academic supervision in fostering teacher professionalism and maintaining consistent learning quality

Abstract

Learning in elementary schools requires innovation to ensure effective and meaningful teaching and learning. One innovation that can be implemented is the use of interactive learning media. This study aims to describe the application of interactive learning media in improving the quality of learning at SDN 40/II Tebing Tinggi. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects included classroom teachers and elementary school students. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, learning observations, and documentation studies. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. While data validity was tested through triangulation techniques. The results showed that the application of interactive learning media can increase student engagement, facilitate understanding of the material, increase learning motivation, and create more active and communicative learning interactions. However, this study also found obstacles in the form of limited facilities and teacher readiness in managing interactive media-based learning. Overall, this study concludes that interactive learning media plays an important role in improving the quality of learning in elementary schools and needs to be continuously developed as part of learning innovation
