Abstract

Digitalization and increasing market competition require business actors to adapt rapidly, often giving rise to ethical dilemmas. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic business ethics in the creative industry in the digital era, with a particular emphasis on honesty (ṣidq) as a fundamental principle supporting business sustainability. This qualitative study employs a literature review and in-depth interviews with three creative industry practitioners in Lamongan Regency, East Java, consisting of owners of a food and beverage (F&B) business, a mobile phone retail business, and a photography service (photo studio) business. Based on the empirical narratives of these three business owners, the findings reveal that honesty is operationalized in concrete business practices, including transparent pricing, truthful product descriptions, consistency between digital promotion and actual product quality, and openness in communicating service limitations. Despite challenges such as intense price competition, pressure for rapid production, and aggressive digital marketing practices, the informants consciously avoid misleading promotions and exaggerated claims. In the Lamongan context, honesty functions not only as a moral–religious value but also as a practical mechanism for building consumer trust and maintaining business reputation, which in turn supports long-term business sustainability. This study contributes to the literature by offering micro-level empirical insights into how honesty is enacted as a strategic ethical practice in small-scale digital creative businesses, rather than treating Islamic business ethics merely as a normative framework. Practically, the findings offer insights for practitioners and policymakers on integrating ethical and religious values into digital business strategies to enhance trust and sustainability.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media and the creator economy has positioned influencer marketing as an increasingly important phenomenon in contemporary digital society. However, the rapid expansion of research in this field has resulted in a fragmented body of knowledge, making it necessary to identify its intellectual structure and emerging research frontiers. This study aims to map the intellectual structure, thematic relationships, and temporal development of research on influencer marketing. A bibliometric analysis and science mapping approach was employed using publications indexed in Scopus from 2000 to 2026, with VOSviewer used to analyze keyword co-occurrence, thematic clusters, density, and temporal trends. The findings indicate that influencer marketing, social media, influencers, purchase intention, engagement, consumption behavior, and commerce constitute the central themes shaping the intellectual structure of the field. The analysis further reveals a thematic shift from conventional consumer-oriented research toward emerging issues involving virtual influencers, artificial intelligence, generative AI, creator economy, social commerce, green marketing, sustainable consumption, transparency, privacy, and kidfluencers. The temporal mapping suggests that influencer marketing is increasingly evolving from a promotional strategy into a broader digitally mediated social influence phenomenon involving interactions among influencers, consumers, brands, platforms, algorithms, and emerging technologies. From a social sciences perspective, these findings highlight the need to examine influencer marketing through broader theoretical lenses, including social influence, parasocial relationships, digital identity, platform society, digital labor, human–AI interaction, social norms, and digital governance. This study contributes by providing a comprehensive map of the evolution of influencer marketing and identifying future research directions at the intersection of marketing, technology, and digital social transformation.

Abstract

Traditional Islamic philanthropy has long been criticized for its charity-based approach, which often fosters dependency rather than empowerment. In the contemporary era of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a paradigm shift toward ‘agency’ is essential. This study explores how Islamic philanthropic institutions, specifically LAZISNU Tuban, navigate this transition by integrating religious mandates with global developmental benchmarks. Drawing on an extensive 21-month qualitative case study (July 2024 – March 2026), this research utilizes an integrative socio-Maqāṣid framework, combining Pierre Bourdieu’s social capital theory with Amartya Sen’s Human Capability Approach. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews with institutional elites and grassroots beneficiaries, participant observation, and a multi-year audit of institutional documents.  The study reveals that LAZISNU Tuban operates through a model of institutional hybridity, effectively synthesizing traditional charismatic authority with modern professional governance. The results indicate that zakat-based educational programs have evolved beyond mere financial assistance into mechanisms for expanding human capabilities, enabling marginalized students to achieve upward social mobility and structural autonomy. Furthermore, the research identifies a process of vernacularization, where the global SDGs are sacralized through the lens of Maqāṣid al-Syarī’ah (ḥifż al-ʿaql and ḥifż al-māl), making universal goals culturally and religiously resonant at the grassroots level. Theoretically, this study bridges transcendental theology and empirical development studies. Practically, it offers a replicable model for faith-based organizations to accelerate the 2030 Agenda by fostering genuine human agency within rural Muslim societies.

Abstract

The rapid growth of scholarly publications has increased the need for students and lecturers to develop systematic skills for managing and analyzing scientific literature. This community service program aimed to provide practical bibliometric competencies through online training using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny. The program was conducted online through Zoom Meeting, with 45 students and lecturers from higher education institutions across various regions of Indonesia selected to enable broader cross-regional access to research capacity-building without geographical limitations. The three-hour program employed a participatory action-oriented approach consisting of program planning and material preparation, software and technical preparation, online training and guided practice, and reflection. The training covered bibliometric concepts, Scopus metadata retrieval and preparation, knowledge mapping using VOSviewer, and science mapping using Biblioshiny. Training achievement was indicated by participants' completion of guided practical activities, including metadata preparation and the generation and interpretation of bibliometric outputs such as keyword co-occurrence, co-authorship, citation, thematic maps, and collaboration networks. The activities also enabled participants to discuss research trends, thematic structures, and potential research gaps based on the generated maps. The results indicate that the online format was feasible for delivering practical bibliometric training to participants from geographically diverse institutions and provided initial exposure to the use of bibliometric tools for literature reviews, research planning, and scientific publication. However, because no standardized pre- and post-training competency assessment was conducted, the program does not claim objectively measured improvement in competency. Follow-up mentoring and competency-based evaluation are recommended to assess sustained skill development and support participants in applying bibliometric analysis to their own research.
