Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance digital literacy and pedagogical competence of English Education students at IAIN Kediri through practical training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in language teaching. Addressing challenges in conventional English learning and low digital integration, the program introduced AI applications such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, and Elsa Speak to improve students’ writing, speaking, and self-reflection skills. The participatory, experiential, and project-based learning approach fostered active student engagement, collaborative learning, and ethical awareness in AI use. Results showed significant improvement in students’ digital skills, pedagogical readiness, and reflective learning, alongside the emergence of a technology-savvy learning community. The program contributes to bridging the digital competence gap, preparing future English teachers for the demands of the 21st century education, and supports Indonesia’s educational transformation in the Industry 4.0 era. Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the communication skills and TOEIC scores of D3 Mechanical Engineering students at PSDKU Politeknik Negeri Malang in Kediri City. The background of this activity is the low level of communication skills and English proficiency among engineering students, which has the potential to hinder learning and mastery of the material. The training methods used include blended learning, project-based learning, collaborative learning, and intensive TOEIC training. The participants in the training were final semester students who needed to improve their English skills. The results showed an average increase in TOEIC scores of 150 points and a significant improvement in communication skills, confidence, and readiness to enter the workforce. However, there were still obstacles in listening skills and grammar mastery. Overall, this program has proven to be effective and can be provided to other groups of students to support the improvement of graduate quality who are better prepared to face the national and international workforce.

Abstract

Abstract  Student mental health has become an important issue in the Society 5.0 era due to increasing academic, social, and technological pressures experienced by Generation Z. Society 5.0 refers to a technology-based society that integrates artificial intelligence and digitalization into human life, including mental health services through digital counseling. This community service program was conducted among students of the Tasawuf and Psychotherapy Study Program at Universitas Sunan Gresik, East Java, Indonesia, aiming to optimize student mental health through digital counseling education as a more flexible and accessible service. The program used a participatory approach through interactive seminars, training on digital counseling platforms, group discussions, and assistance in using digital services safely and wisely. Evaluation was conducted using simple pretest and posttest instruments involving 35 participants. The results showed an increase in students’ understanding of mental health, with the average score improving from 62 to 84 after the activity. About 88% of participants reported becoming more open to digital counseling services, while 85% felt more capable of managing stress and emotions after participating in the program. The uniqueness of this program lies in the integration of mental health education with practical digital counseling training tailored to student characteristics in the Society 5.0 era. However, challenges remained, including limited digital literacy and concerns regarding data privacy. Therefore, digital counseling education proved effective in improving students’ awareness, knowledge, and skills in maintaining mental health in the digital era.

Abstract

While classical methods and hisab methods based on spherical trigonometry and vector algebra are commonly used, this article introduces a more elegant, purely geometric alternative using Clifford Algebra (within the framework of Geometric Algebra). This method uses unit vectors in three-dimensional space to represent the positions of the observer and the Kaaba, then projects these vectors onto the local horizontal plane using geometric operations such as the dot product and the outer product. The results of the Qibla direction calculations for five major cities in Indonesia—Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Bandung, and Makassar—when compared with the spherical trigonometry and vector algebra methods, show high consistency, with a maximum difference of less than 0°. Further validation using data from the Qibla Locator also confirms the method's accuracy. Clifford Algebra has proven to be an accurate, intuitive, and computationally efficient approach, with great potential for applications in digital navigation systems, augmented reality, and science education. Thus, this method offers a powerful modern alternative for determining the direction of the Qibla through hisab
