Abstract

This chapter explores the dynamic relationship between innovation and risk management in small business ventures, emphasizing the need to balance technological advancements with effective safeguards to ensure long-term resilience. As small businesses increasingly adopt digital tools and innovative practices in the context of Industry 5.0, they encounter both growth opportunities and heightened vulnerabilities, particularly in cybersecurity, financial stability, and operational continuity. Through case studies and empirical findings, this chapter demonstrates how phased implementation, risk assessment, and resilience-building technologies, such as data analytics and cybersecurity measures, can help mitigate risks associated with innovation. The chapter underscores the importance of a balanced approach, where strategic innovation aligns with robust risk management, empowering small businesses to achieve sustainable growth and competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving market.

Abstract

Performance-based management has been widely adopted as a managerial approach to enhance organizational efficiency and accountability in increasingly complex and competitive environments. Many organizations continue to experience inefficiencies despite the formal implementation of performance-based management systems, indicating a gap between managerial intentions and actual operational outcomes. This study aims to examine the role of performance-based management in improving organizational efficiency by analyzing its overall effect and the relative contribution of its key dimensions, namely performance planning, performance monitoring, performance evaluation, and performance feedback. The study employs a quantitative explanatory research design, with data collected through a structured survey administered to managerial-level employees involved in the implementation and evaluation of performance-based management practices. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to assess the relationship between performance-based management and organizational efficiency. The findings indicate that performance-based management has a positive and statistically significant effect on organizational efficiency. Performance planning and performance monitoring emerge as the strongest contributors, highlighting the importance of proactive managerial practices, while performance evaluation and feedback exhibit weaker effects, suggesting that their impact depends on the effective use of performance information in managerial decision-making. This study contributes to the performance management literature by offering an integrative organizational-level perspective and provides practical insights for managers seeking to enhance efficiency through effective performance-based management implementation.

Abstract

Novice authors are often assumed to submit to questionable journals because they cannot recognise them, yet recent evidence links publication decisions to institutional incentives, financial constraints and social networks, and the latest synthesis covers literature only to 2020.This systematic review synthesised empirical studies published between January 2020 and March 2026 on how novice scholars in emerging research systems select journals, treating stated criteria as decision heuristics. Following PRISMA 2020 and a SPIDER question, five international databases, four regional databases and grey literature were searched. Two reviewers independently screened and appraised studies (CASP, MMAT), and findings were integrated through thematic synthesis. In total, 44 studies were included (κ = 0.81 at title and abstract screening; κ = 0.78 at full text). Six heuristics recurred: publisher reputation (38 studies), social network guidance (31), financial accessibility (29), institutional incentives (28), editorial speed (26) and thematic fit (23). As the principal contribution, these heuristics were organised into the JSHT-NERS typology, which crosses heuristic source (endogenous or exogenous) with decision orientation (quality or certainty). Evidence gaps were concentrated in Central Asia, the Pacific Islands and Francophone Africa. Identical heuristics produced different outcomes depending on local signal quality, so heuristic reliability appears to be a property of the environment rather than of the author. Verifiable journal lists, predictable publication funding and realistic timelines are more consequential levers than literacy training alone. Findings are limited by English language dominance and self reported primary data, and the typology remains provisional.

Abstract

Perumahan ABC mencatat akumulasi akhir 0,12 ± 0,05.

Abstract

Indonesian labour law treats the warning letter as a procedural step toward termination of employment under Article 154A paragraph (1) letter k of the Job Creation Law, yet the substantive requirements for its validity remain undefined. The problem becomes acute when a worker receives a disciplinary warning letter after taking religious leave that the employer had already approved, on grounds that no written rule regulates. This study aims to determine the validity requirements of a warning letter, the legal position of an approved leave, and the legal consequences of a warning letter issued for such leave. It applies normative legal research with statute, conceptual, and case approaches, examining Law Number 13 of 2003, Law Number 6 of 2023, Government Regulation Number 35 of 2021, Law Number 2 of 2004, and four industrial relations decisions retrieved from the Supreme Court Decision Directory, analysed qualitatively and prescriptively. The findings identify five cumulative validity requirements: a written normative basis, a concrete act meeting that norm, clarity of content, timeliness, and compliance with the time and level regime. Leave approval creates a legitimate expectation, reinforced for religious leave by Article 80 of the Manpower Law. Within this doctrinal framework, a warning letter lacking any violated norm is substantively defective, should not count as a step toward termination, and may be challenged through the rights dispute mechanism. The study contributes an operational validity test for courts, mediators, and employers, and recommends that implementing regulations codify these requirements.
