Abstract

The occurrence of deviations in the morals and lifestyles of the younger generation often causes a shift in existing moral values and local culture so that there is a need to revitalize moral values. These efforts can be made in implementing parenting patterns based on local culture in the surrounding environment. One of the intermediaries that can be used to educate children's moral character is Serat Sasana Sunu. The aim of conducting this research is to; 1) examine the philosophy of values contained in Serat Sasana Sunu, and 2) internalize and integrate Serat Sasana Sunu as a recommended parenting model based on local culture. This research was carried out using Ricoeur's qualitative hermeneutical method. Data in this research was obtained using literature study techniques (literature research). The results achieved in the research include the discovery of 5 values from Serat Sasana Sunu which can be used as a parenting model, namely; religious teachings, teachings about dealing with life's passions, teachings about making friends, attitudes as a young generation, and teachings about speaking. The integration of parenting values that have been found in Serat Sasana Sunu is relevant to the combination of democratic and eclectic parenting approaches.

Abstract

Resilience plays a crucial role in helping students cope with prolonged grief, as experiences of loss can negatively affect their psychological well-being. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of self-efficacy and self-esteem on students’ resilience in dealing with prolonged grief. This study employed a cross-sectional predictive design involving 346 students from Malang State University selected through purposive sampling.  This study used three instruments measuring self-efficacy (X₁), self-esteem (X₂), and resilience (Y), all of which employed a Likert scale and were tested for validity and reliability.  The reliability test showed α = .856 for the self-efficacy scale, α = .831 for the self-esteem scale, and α = .745 for the resilience scale. The results of the analysis after conducting validity tests and regression tests yielded the regression model Y=6.742+.412X₁+.283X₂+ε.  The coefficients were β₁ (self-efficacy) = .412 (t = 4.568; p < .001) and β₂ (self-esteem) = .283 (t = 2.476; p = .014). The results indicate that self-efficacy and self-esteem significantly and positively predict resilience. This study contributes theoretically by supporting a positive psychology framework and providing recommendations for preventive interventions, although its cross-sectional design limits causal inference. Future research is encouraged to employ longitudinal or experimental designs and to include mediating or moderating variables such as social support, coping strategies, or personality factors to strengthen the explanatory model.

Abstract

The decline in manners has become an increasingly concerning issue impacting student development, which, if left unaddressed, may adversely affect their future prospects. This developmental study aims to produce a sociodrama guidebook incorporating the values of Serat Sasana Sunu to enhance students’ polite behavior, ensuring its acceptability through expert evaluations and feedback from prospective users. The research employed the Borg and Gall development model, proceeding through the first five stages tailored to the study’s requirements. Results indicate that the guidebook received an average rating of 3.2 from material experts, categorized as feasible; 3.58 from media experts, deemed very feasible; and 3.98 from prospective users, also classified as very feasible. Based on these assessments, the guidebook is concluded to be highly suitable for implementation (mean score = 3.58). This development contributes by enriching service materials aligned with student needs and offers an innovative intervention by integrating local cultural elements. Nevertheless, the study’s limitations include its confinement to initial trials and product revisions. Future research is recommended to evaluate the guidebook’s effectiveness comprehensively.
