Abstract

This study aims to propose a formulation of instructional steps for the Quranic Narrative Learning Model (QNLM), combining the pedagogical advantages of Quranic narratives with a variety of Student-Centered Learning (SCL) approaches to facilitate students' tazkiyatun nafs (self-acceptance). The development of this model addresses the persistent problem faced by Islamic Religious Education (IRE): a focus on cognitive achievement that often neglects the affective aspect, due to a situational process caused by the dominance of teacher-centered learning. Using a qualitative conceptual design, this study adopted a Comparative-Synthetic Analysis. The literature was rigorously and systematically reviewed through three phases: conceptual analysis of SCL and Quranic pedagogy, comparative integration, and model development. The findings outline a learning syntax with five main stages: Preparation & Hook, Inquiry Analysis, Value Connection, Reinforcement, and Implementation & Evaluation. The main novelty of QNLM lies in the setting time technique; This approach shifts the narrative's chronological order to immediately engage students emotionally and aims to control the lesson ('ibrah) in a delayed manner to ensure deeper affective internalization. This systematic approach effectively addresses the risk of a lack of religious and ethical foundations within the SCL environment. Consequently, the QNLM provides a practical, structured system for values-based learning in modern IRE. Future empirical studies are expected to incorporate classroom action research or comparative studies to validate this model's capacity to shape long-term changes in student behavior.

Abstract

This study reconstructs an eco-pedagogical paradigm in Islamic Religious Education by analysing the tafsīr tarbawī interpretation of Surah al-Baqarah (2):30. Existing discussions on Islamic environmental ethics often remain normative and philosophical, with limited attention to how Qur’anic ecological values can be operationalised into curriculum components and measurable learning practices. Using qualitative library research, this article compares five exegetical works that represent diverse styles and periods, namely Ibn Kathīr, al-Qurṭubī, al-Marāghī, al-Mīzān, and al-Miṣbāḥ. Data were analysed through content analysis by identifying key concepts in the verse, mapping convergences and variations across interpretations, and translating the results into curriculum elements, including learning objectives, materials, and assessment. The findings show a shift in the meaning of khalīfah from political legitimacy in classical readings to a broader cosmic mandate of environmental stewardship in contemporary interpretations. The angels’ concern about fasād and bloodshed functions as a pedagogical warning that supports the internalisation of three curricular pillars: tawḥīd, amānah, and mīzān. Based on these pillars, the article proposes a curriculum integration matrix across educational levels and an evaluation rubric for ecological piety that covers cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to develop, implement, and analyze the effectiveness of the digital "Cermin Diri" questionnaire embedded with age-appropriate Lie Scales on Google Forms to mitigate social desirability bias (SDB) or faking good in Islamic Education (PAI) affective self-assessments focused on the topic "Aku Anak Saleh" at the primary school level. Design/methods– Employing a descriptive evaluative method, this research involved 24 fourth-grade students at Sekolah Alam Qur'an (SAQ) Nur Madani . Data were collected using a digital questionnaire consisting of a 10-item balanced Likert scale (5 favorable and 5 unfavorable items) paired with 2 Lie Scale items (items No. 3 and 6). The self-reported digital data were qualitatively cross-validated against the teacher's anecdotal records using the "Teacher's Observation Veto Power" mechanism. Findings – The class average affective score reached 38.25 (converted score of 95.63; "Very Good" category), with 83.3% of students demonstrating characterization-level internalization (A5). The transition to a digital platform effectively provided private reflection spaces that reduced social peer pressure . The Lie Scale items successfully detected initial faking good tendencies (12.5% on item No. 3 and 8.3% on item No. 6), which were objectively refined through real-world behavioral triangulation. This hybrid model offers a valid, fair, and reliable character assessment framework for primary schools implementing the Merdeka Curriculum.
