Abstract

Digital transformation in education has encouraged the integration of technology-based learning media to enhance instructional quality. One of the most widely used platforms is Canva, a web-based design application that provides various interactive visual features to support learning activities. This study aims to analyze trends in Canva utilization and identify its impact on student engagement and learning outcomes, particularly within Islamic Religious Education (IRE). A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was employed using the PRISMA framework. Data were collected from articles published between 2020 and 2025 indexed in Google Scholar, DOAJ, Dimensions, and Scopus databases. Following identification, screening, and eligibility assessment processes, relevant studies were selected for in-depth analysis. The findings indicate that Canva positively contributes to student motivation, engagement, creativity, collaboration, digital literacy, and academic achievement. Within the context of Islamic Religious Education, Canva facilitates more engaging, contextualized, and interactive learning experiences that support student-centered instruction. However, the effectiveness of Canva is influenced by teachers’ digital competencies, technological infrastructure, and instructional design quality. This study recommends Canva as a relevant digital learning medium to support innovation in Islamic Religious Education in the era of educational digital transformation.

Abstract

The advancement of modern education requires the implementation of innovative, creative, and adaptive learning systems through the use of graphic-based instructional media in curriculum development. Conventional teaching methods often lead to low student participation, learning boredom, and difficulties in understanding abstract concepts due to limited visual support. This study aims to analyze the influence of graphic-based learning media on curriculum development, learning motivation, and students’ creativity. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through literature review, observation, and analysis of educational sources related to visual media and modern curriculum development. The findings indicate that graphic media, including images, diagrams, illustrations, and infographics, contribute to improving conceptual understanding, learning concentration, critical thinking skills, and interactive learning communication. The integration of graphic media also supports student-centered learning practices. However, its effectiveness is constrained by technological limitations, teachers’ competencies in designing visual media, and differences in students’ learning characteristics.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has significantly changed the educational paradigm, including in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning. The presence of Generation Alpha, born and raised amidst digital technological advancements, demands a transformation of learning media that is more interactive, visual, adaptive, and technology-based. This study aims to analyze the transformation of digital-based Islamic Religious Education learning media in addressing the characteristics of Generation Alpha, identify opportunities and challenges for its implementation, and formulate strategies for developing effective and relevant learning media. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a library research method through a review of various scientific journals, academic articles, and literature related to the digital transformation of Islamic education. The results show that the transformation of digital-based PAI learning media is carried out through the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS), interactive videos, gamification, educational social media, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), and Islamic digital learning applications. Digital media can increase learning motivation, student engagement, and learning effectiveness in accordance with the characteristics of Generation Alpha, which is visual, fast, and interactive. However, digital transformation also faces challenges such as low teacher digital literacy, limited infrastructure, the threat of digital moral degradation, and the risk of technological dependency. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the digital competence of Islamic Education teachers, integrate Islamic values ​​into digital media, and develop humanistic and adaptive learning strategies so that the transformation of learning media can support quality Islamic education in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of Canva-based digital learning media in improving elementary school students’ interest in learning Islamic Religious Education (PAI). The development of educational technology requires teachers to present learning media that are attractive, interactive, and suitable for students’ characteristics. One of the digital media that can be used is Canva, a graphic design application that provides various visual learning features. This study employed a quantitative research method with library research approach. The subjects of this study were elementary school students in Islamic Religious Education classes. Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques to determine students’ learning interest before and after the implementation of Canva-based learning media. The results are expected to show that the use of Canva-based digital learning media can improve students’ learning interest because the learning materials are presented in a more attractive, understandable, and interactive way. Therefore, Canva can be an effective alternative digital learning media in Islamic Religious Education learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

The rapid development of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly influenced Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at the senior high school level. Technologies based on large language models provide students with fast and interactive access to learning materials, yet they also raise challenges regarding the validity of Islamic content, academic ethics, and digital literacy. This study aims to map research developments on generative AI in PAI learning from 2022 to 2025 using a bibliometric approach. Data were collected from Google Scholar through Publish or Perish, resulting in 100 qualified articles analyzed with VOSviewer through network, overlay, and density visualizations. The findings indicate a significant increase in publication trends, peaking in 2024, reflecting the growing integration of AI within Islamic education research. The co-occurrence analysis identifies three main clusters: technology, user competence, and ethics-innovation. These clusters illustrate that the use of generative AI in PAI learning requires not only technological readiness but also digital literacy and ethical regulation to ensure the validity and integrity of Islamic educational content. This study concludes that generative AI offers substantial potential to enhance PAI learning effectiveness, but it must be accompanied by adequate supervision and strong digital literacy.
