Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of democratic leadership practiced by female principals at the elementary school level in Barebbo District, Bone Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects consisted of five female principals selected through purposive sampling based on school accreditation and a minimum of five years of leadership experience. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, with analysis conducted through data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that female principals implement democratic leadership through open communication, involvement of teachers in decision-making processes, and the application of deliberation in school management. Democratic leadership is also reflected in teacher empowerment and task delegation based on individual competencies. Within the context of a strong patron–client culture in Bone Regency, female principals are able to adapt democratic leadership practices without diminishing their authority by positioning themselves as respected figures who remain open to dialogue. The implementation of this leadership style has a positive impact on creating a harmonious, collaborative, and conducive school climate, while increasing teacher motivation and sense of belonging. This study provides empirical insights into how female leadership can overcome gender stereotypes through effective participatory practices in local cultural contexts.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the importance of school administration through the role of administrative staff (Tata Usaha) in elementary schools, using a qualitative approach based on a literature review of academic studies, scientific books, and the latest educational policies. The findings indicate that administrative staff play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of educational management processes, from student data management, financial documentation, and academic archiving to internal coordination. Despite its strategic function, this role is often overlooked, especially in many public elementary schools in Indonesia that do not yet have official administrative staff positions. The absence of this role has led to the administrative burden being shifted to teachers and principals, thereby diverting their focus from core instructional duties. A well-functioning school administration enhances institutional efficiency, supports data-driven decision-making, and strengthens public accountability in education funding. However, challenges such as the lack of structural recognition for the administrative role at the elementary level, minimal professional training, and inadequate regulatory frameworks remain major obstacles. Therefore, the institutionalization of administrative staff in elementary schools must be promptly realized through affirmative policies, continuous competency development, and a paradigm shift towards a more professional school management system. This study concludes that administrative staff are not merely technical support personnel but strategic actors in building an accountable, orderly, and sustainable basic education system. The presence of administrative staff in elementary schools is not an option but a necessity for the delivery of quality basic education services.

Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the leadership of gender-based female principals at the primary school level in Barebbo Sub-district, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi. The purpose of this study is to describe how gender-based principal leadership is based on the character and context of leadership. The study was adopted from the Gender and Leadership approach based on the FourC-PITO concept. Character is an individual trait or personality and the values that a person believes in. Character in educational leadership relates to self-confidence, independence, responsibility, gender stereotypes, interpersonal relationships, and team management. Context is the physical, psychological, social, economic environment and various situations. Context in leadership is related to stress management, differences in gender relations, socio-cultural conditions, the number of human resources, and work status. The sampling methodology used purposive sampling with informants as many as 5 female principals. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research data were obtained using interviews, observation and documentation. Checking the validity of the data using triangulation techniques. The results showed that: (1) The leadership character of elementary school principals in Barebbo Subdistrict, Bone Regency, generally has confidence, is responsible, open to other people's ideas, maintains interpersonal relationships, is democratic, and has good management. (2) The most prominent contexts for gender-based principal leadership are educational strata, gender equality, family relationships, number of resources, work status, regional origin, and teacher adaptability. Keywords: gender, female principal, leadership Abstrak: Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang kepemimpinan kepala sekolah perempuan berbasis gender jenjang SD Kecamatan Barebbo, Kabupaten Bone, Sulawesi Selatan. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan bagaimana kepemimpinan kepala sekolah berbasis gender berdasarkan karakter dan konteks kepemimpinan. Kajian tersebut diadopsi dari pendekatan Gender and Leadership yang berdasar pada konsep FourC-PITO. Karakter merupakan sifat individu atau kepribadian dan nilai-nilai yang diyakini seseorang. Karakter berkaitan dalam kepemimpinan pendidikan berkaitan dengan kepercayaan diri, kemandirian, tanggung jawab, stereotip gender, hubungan interpersonal, dan pengelolaan tim. Konteks merupakan lingkungan fisik, psikologis, sosial, ekonomi, dan berbagai situasi. Konteks dalam kepemimpinan berkaitan dengan pengelolaan stres, perbedaan relasi gender, kondisi sosial budaya, jumlah SDM, hingga status kerja. Metodologi pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dengan informan sebanyak 5 kepala sekolah perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data hasil penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Pengecekan keabsahan data menggunakan teknik triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Karakter kepemimpinan kepala sekolah SD di Kecamatan Barebbo Kabupaten Bone pada umumnya memiliki kepercayaan diri, bertanggung jawab, terbuka terhadap gagasan orang lain, menjaga relasi interpersonal, demokratis, dan memiliki manajemen yang baik. (2) Konteks yang paling menonjol pada kepemimpinan kepala sekolah berbasis gender berupa, strata pendidikan, kesamaan gender, hubungan kekeluargaan, jumlah sumberdaya, status kerja, asal daerah, dan kemampuan adaptasi guru. Abstract

Abstrak. Kesenjangan akses teknologi di wilayah pedalaman seringkali menghambat pengembangan kreativitas siswa dalam bidang desain grafis, sebagaimana yang terjadi di SMPN 3 Satap Tombolopao, Kabupaten Gowa. Lokasi geografis di dataran tinggi mengakibatkan keterbatasan fasilitas laboratorium komputer dan rendahnya literasi visual siswa.Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi desain grafis siswa dengan memanfaatkan platform cloud Canva dan optimalisasi Smart TV sebagai media instruksional kolaboratif. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Learning System (PALS) yang melibatkan 13 siswa melalui tahapan sosialisasi, pelatihan intensif (demonstrasi dan praktik), serta evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada seluruh indikator kompetensi: pemahaman prinsip desain meningkat dari 25% menjadi 85%, dan keterampilan operasional Canva melonjak dari 5% menjadi 90%. Penggunaan Smart TV terbukti efektif memberikan ketajaman visual yang mendukung ketelitian desain dibandingkan proyektor konvensional. Kendala stabilitas internet di lokasi disiasati melalui fitur offline editing. Kesimpulannya, integrasi teknologi tepat guna berbasis aset sekolah mampu meningkatkan digital self-efficacy siswa di sekolah satu atap, sekaligus menjadi solusi praktis dalam menjembatani digital divide di wilayah rural.Kata Kunci: Desain Grafis, Canva, Smart TV, Literasi Digital, Tombolopao
