Abstract

The quality of education in Indonesia is currently very concerning. Education should pay attention to children's needs, not force something that makes children uncomfortable in seeking knowledge. A good education process is to provide opportunities for children to be creative. This must be done because basically children's thinking styles cannot be directed. In addition to the lack of creativity of educators in guiding students, a centralized curriculum makes the portrait of education increasingly blurry. The curriculum is only based on government knowledge without considering the needs of the community. Worse still, education is unable to produce creative graduates. Other causes of the low quality of education in Indonesia include problems of effectiveness, efficiency and standardization of teaching. This writing aims to describe the education system in Indonesia, describe the problems of education in Indonesia, and describe solutions that can be provided for problems of education in Indonesia. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The education system in Indonesia is very dynamic in adapting to the times. Currently, Indonesia uses the 2013 curriculum which emphasizes character education.

Abstract

Advances in information and communication technology have transformed the way we learn and access information. Lack of technology integration in education or the inability to teach students to use existing technology can be problematic. Irrelevant Curriculum: An educational curriculum that is out of sync with the needs of the times or current economic and social needs can produce graduates who lack the skills needed by the workforce. This includes curricula that are overly theoretical and impractical. Teacher and Training Crisis: The quality of teaching depends heavily on the quality of teachers. Issues related to teacher training, updating teacher knowledge, and their ability to teach various subjects are at the heart of this crisis. Student Stress and Well-Being: Student well-being can impact their ability to learn. Excessive academic workload, mental stress, or other issues that affect student well-being can undermine the quality of education.

Abstract

This study critically examines the development and dynamics of Islamic education policies in the ASEAN region, which is characterized by significant social, political, and cultural diversity. Islamic education across ASEAN countries has evolved through a long historical process influenced by colonial legacies, modernization efforts, and contemporary global challenges such as digitalization and issues related to radicalism. The analysis in this study reveals several crucial policy issues, including curriculum modernization, the integration of religious and general sciences, the persistent dualism in educational systems, technological disparities in digital learning, and identity-based political challenges in minority Muslim communities.Furthermore, this study maps out the future policy directions of Islamic education, emphasizing three main priorities: curriculum modernization, the strengthening of religious moderation, and the advancement of educational digitalization. Abstract

Out-of-school education (OECD) is an integral part of the national education system, encompassing non-formal and informal education within families and communities. This study aims to examine the role, challenges, and strategic solutions of OECD in supporting formal education, particularly in the digital era and post-pandemic. Through a literature review of various recent studies, it was found that OECD makes a significant contribution to character building, equitable access to education, and life skills development. However, OECD still faces several challenges such as socioeconomic disparities, low digital literacy, minimal parental involvement, fragmentation of community-based programs, and the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on access to and quality of learning. This study recommends strengthening collaboration between schools, families, and communities, improving digital literacy, and integrating community programs to strengthen the role of OECD in realizing inclusive and sustainable education.

Abstract

The dichotomy between school education and out-of-school education remains a fundamental issue in the Indonesian education system. School education is often perceived as the primary and most legitimate educational pathway, while out-of-school education is positioned merely as a complementary alternative. This dichotomous perspective has implications for policy inequality, public perception, and recognition of learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the nature of the dichotomy between school and out-of-school education, examine its historical and sociological roots, and identify integrative solutions within the national education system. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. The findings indicate that the educational dichotomy is a socio-historical construction influenced by colonial legacy, educational policy orientation, and societal perceptions of formal credentials. Therefore, an integrative approach emphasizing lifelong learning, cross-sector collaboration, and recognition of non-formal and informal learning is essential.

Abstract

Globalization has brought significant changes to various aspects of human life, including education. Islamic education, which is oriented toward the development of character, spirituality, and intellectual capacity, faces numerous challenges in the era of globalization, such as the influence of foreign cultures, rapid digital transformation, and the demands of 21st-century competencies. This study aims to examine the challenges, problems, and impacts of globalization on Islamic education, as well as to formulate relevant modernization strategies. This research employs a library research method by analyzing books and recent scholarly articles. The findings indicate that Islamic education encounters both internal and external challenges, including weak curriculum integration, limited teacher competence, and a crisis of moral values and identity among students. Nevertheless, globalization also provides opportunities for innovation in learning and the enhancement of educational quality through the effective use of technology and human resource development. Therefore, Islamic education must be adaptive and innovative while consistently maintaining Islamic values in order to produce Muslim generations who are faithful, morally upright, knowledgeable, and capable of contributing positively to the global society.
