Abstract

Contemporary discussions on gender in the Qur'an have generated extensive scholarly debate, particularly regarding equality, authority, social roles, and justice. Although previous studies have made important contributions, much of the existing scholarship remains fragmented, often focusing on isolated controversial verses or approaching the issue primarily through legal, ideological, or apologetic frameworks. Consequently, there remains a significant gap in studies that reconstruct the Qur'an's discourse on gender through an integrated thematic exegetical perspective that connects theological, ethical, historical, and social dimensions. This study addresses that gap by employing a qualitative library research design using the thematic exegetical (tafsīr mawḍū‘ī) method. It analyzes selected Qur'anic verses related to human creation, spiritual accountability, reciprocity, family structure, inheritance, and social responsibility, while engaging both classical tafsir and contemporary scholarship on gender in Islam. The findings show that the Qur'an upholds the ontological and spiritual equality of men and women while also recognizing certain contextual and functional distinctions in social and familial responsibilities. These distinctions, however, are not framed as a theological basis for absolute hierarchy, but rather as part of a justice-oriented moral order grounded in reciprocity, accountability, and shared human dignity. The significance of this study lies in its contribution to contemporary global debates on religion, gender, and scriptural interpretation by offering a balanced Qur'anic framework that may inform discussions on gender justice, Islamic education, ethical family relations, and inclusive religious discourse in both Muslim and plural societies.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to empower the community of Bedengung Village, South Bangka, through an integrated trilogy approach of education, family, and religious development as a strategy for sustainable community empowerment. The program was conducted using a participatory descriptive qualitative approach from July to September 2025, involving Qur’anic learning center students, women’s religious study groups, youth, community leaders, and village officials. The activities included mentoring children’s Qur’an reading at Al-Anshori TPA, organizing regular religious gatherings for mothers, implementing social and philanthropic initiatives through the distribution of donated clothing for disadvantaged groups, and providing handicraft training based on recycled materials to strengthen the local creative economy. The results indicated improvements in children’s religious literacy, the strengthening of mothers’ roles in family resilience, increased social solidarity among residents, and the development of community skills and entrepreneurial interest based on local potential. Active community participation and strong support from the village government were key factors contributing to the program’s success. This program concludes that integrating education, family, and religious values can serve as a holistic and sustainable model for village community empowerment.

Abstract

The writing of the Qur'an during the caliphate was a significant phase in Islamic history, where the collection and writing of revelations were carried out to preserve the authenticity of the text. This study aims to analyze the rules of Hazful Huruf Rasm Uthmani in the book Al-Muqni’ by Abu Amr Uthman Ibn Sa'id Ad-Dani, as well as its contribution to the science of Qur'anic rasm. The method used is qualitative research with a literature study approach, which includes an analysis of various works by related scholars. The results of the study indicate that in the book Al-Muqni’ by Abu Daud, the rules of hazf alif, ya, wawu, and lam play a crucial role in maintaining the clarity and beauty of the meanings of the holy verses. Each category of hazf contributes to the preservation of the correct recitation and enriches the language of the Qur'an. Although there are differing opinions among scholars regarding the omission of letters, a deep understanding of these rules is essential to avoid errors in recitation. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the importance of the rules of Hazful Huruf in the writing of the Qur'an and the contribution of the book Al-Muqni’ in preserving the science of rasm, which supports the tradition of correct recitation in Islam.
